Assistant Director Hillel of San Diego at UCSD The Assistant Director is a key member of the professional team responsible for implementing Hillel's strategic vision of Jewish life on campus. This person works closely with all Hillel of San Diego staff and is responsible for managing all student-facing programming and engagement at University of California San Diego. What You'll Do Engagement • Develop meaningful relationships with Jewish students by meeting them where they are, utilizing creative methods to reach and interest them • Identify potential student leaders and work with them to develop leadership skills and strategic thinking • Oversee social media presence, engagement tracking, and outward student communications • Mentor student leaders to successfully grow and motivate them to go from ideas to action Program Management • Oversee all Hillel programs at UCSD ensuring all programs are student-led, accessible, relevant, and meaningful • Strategic vision of programming calendar • Manage the programming budget Inspiring Jewish Life • Facilitate Jewish learning and ritual observance when appropriate • Serve as informal Jewish educator for students on Jewish issues, observance, cultural practices, etc. • Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to staff and student leaders to design and facilitate meaningful Shabbat and holiday experiences Stakeholder and Community Relations • Ensure Hillel is an indispensable partner to the university by developing relationships with university officials, faculty, and student government • Build strong coalitions with other organizations and cultural centers on campus Management • Supervise and support engagement staff (currently Springboard Jewish Learning Fellow and Israel Fellow) • Empower staff to reach engagement metrics and programming excellence What You'll Bring • You're an experiential Jewish educator and Jewish role model • You thrive in the details of event and program planning, balancing creativity, hospitality, and execution • You've supervised students, staff, or volunteers • Strong computer literacy skills including GSuite proficiency • A four-year degree What You'll Receive • Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000 • Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, Life/AD&D/LTD insurances, Flexible Spending accounts, generous vacation/sick time, and parental leave • Professional development, mentoring, and skill-building opportunities • Travel regionally and abroad, particularly to Israel Hillel is an equal opportunity employer.
