Job description
Position: Program Officer, Local Jewish Community Organization: Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia Location: Philadelphia, PA The Program Officer supports and manages grantmaking programs that strengthen Jewish education, engagement, and social services across Greater Philadelphia. Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Impact, this role helps implement, evaluate, and steward funded initiatives aligned with Federation priorities and community needs. Core Responsibilities: - Manage day-to-day grant portfolio activity, tracking, and compliance across the grant lifecycle - Serve as an internal liaison sharing insights on partner agencies, trends, and funded initiatives - Conduct research and field analysis to inform grantmaking and scholarship strategy - Coordinate and participate in site visits and partner meetings across the five-county region - Review partner reports and data, preparing summaries and impact reports - Maintain accurate grant records and database tracking - Contribute to continuous improvement of grant and evaluation processes Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or related graduate coursework preferred - 3–5 years experience in philanthropy, grantmaking, or nonprofit program management - Strong analytical, organizational, and writing skills - Experience managing projects with sound professional judgment - Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Office; grant systems experience preferred - Knowledge of Jewish communal organizations, customs, and traditions required Work Environment & Benefits: Hybrid schedule with two in-office days weekly, local travel for site visits, and occasional evening or weekend events.
