Position: Philanthropy Advisor Organization: Jewish Federation Bay Area Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid – 2 days in office) ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW: As the largest funder of Jewish causes in California, the Jewish Federation Bay Area connects donors, changemakers, and community partners to build a thriving, resilient future. The Federation invests in education, social services, security, and global crisis relief while empowering individuals and families to give strategically and meaningfully. ROLE SUMMARY: The Philanthropy Advisor plays a vital role in stewarding, soliciting, and engaging donors through thoughtful communication, responsive service, and meaningful connection to the Jewish community. This role manages a portfolio of emerging and growing donor-advised fund holders and Annual Campaign donors giving under $10,000. Through proactive outreach, the Philanthropy Advisor cultivates meaningful relationships and supports donors in expanding their engagement and philanthropic impact. This position reports to a senior Philanthropy Advisor and is expected to work in-office two days per week. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Portfolio Management: - Serve as primary contact for donor questions regarding grantmaking, portal navigation, Federation impact, and giving logistics. - Manage and steward an assigned donor portfolio. - Develop targeted messaging and mass email campaigns to engage broader donor segments. - Provide responsive, accurate, and thoughtful support. Strategic Engagement: - Develop creative engagement strategies for donors. - Identify opportunities for increased involvement through programs, events, and aligned giving opportunities. - Implement automated stewardship touchpoints including impact communications, holiday messages, reminders, and event invitations. - Personalize outreach to deepen connection. Donor Retention & Growth: - Monitor engagement and giving patterns to identify upgrade opportunities. - Partner with senior advisors to transition donors as giving increases. - Support retention and donor growth through thoughtful stewardship. Data & Collaboration: - Track donor activity and engagement outcomes. - Collaborate with philanthropy, data, grants management, events, and marketing teams. - Support department-wide campaigns and initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS: - 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit development, donor relations, customer success, or relationship management. - Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Highly organized and detail-oriented. - Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce strongly preferred). - Understanding of donor-advised funds preferred. - Familiarity with Jewish communal life and values preferred but not required. COMPENSATION: **Salary range:** $83,000 – $98,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
