Homecare Aide

Jewish Family & Career Services is hiring non-medical Homecare Aides to begin immediately. Caring and compassionate caregivers work one-on-one with older adults in Jefferson County, assisting with personal care, meal preparation and light housekeeping. Reports to the Homecare Director.

Responsibilities:
• Assist clients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, eating, exercises, grooming, incontinence care, medication reminders, mobility and transfers
• Provide companionship services such as transportation and escort to appointments and events, conversation, games, reading and correspondence
• Handle light housekeeping, including laundry, linens, dusting, mopping, vacuuming and organizing
• Plan and prepare meals, including grocery shopping and clean-up, and run errands such as prescription pickup and personal shopping
• Monitor clients and their environment and keep the Homecare Director informed of concerns or hazards
• Follow each client's care plan, attend all mandatory trainings and submit required documentation on time

Qualifications:
• Must be 18 years of age or older, with a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• High school diploma preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Training is provided; previous personal care, homecare or elder care experience preferred
• Able to read, write and speak English, and sensitive to elderly, convalescent and disabled clients
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; pre-employment background check and drug screen required

**Hours:** Flexible schedule, with part-time and full-time schedules available.
