Job description
How This Role Makes a Difference
The Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications that support clinical research and participant pre-screening operations. This position collaborates with cross-functional product development teams to develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive manual and automated testing strategies, with a strong emphasis on end-to-end test automation using Playwright. The QA Engineer identifies, documents, and helps resolve software defects throughout the development lifecycle, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and reliable software solutions that support organizational objectives and enhance the user experience.
How You'll Make An Impact
Design, build, and maintain automated end-to-end test suites using Playwright across web and API surfaces.
Perform exploratory and structured manual testing on complex user flows, edge cases, and regression scenarios.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable feedback on every pull request.
Collaborate closely with engineers and designers during development to shift quality left, writing tests alongside features, not after.
Triage, reproduce, and document bugs with clear steps and context that accelerate resolution.
Contribute to and improve QA processes, standards, and tooling across the engineering organization.
Participate in test planning, sprint ceremonies, and release readiness reviews.
The Expertise Required
Strong proficiency with Playwright (or a comparable framework like Cypress or Puppeteer) and the ability to write maintainable, reliable tests.
Solid manual testing instincts: you know when to automate and when hands-on exploration surfaces more value.
Experience integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or similar).
Familiarity with testing APIs alongside UI flows, including REST and GraphQL endpoints.
Strong communication skills: you can write a clear bug report, explain a test strategy, and advocate for quality with engineers and PMs alike.
Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift and judgment matters.
Certifications/Licenses, Education, and Experience
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Experience:
3+ years of experience in software QA, with meaningful time spent in test automation.
