Job description

The Neighborhood (An Urban Center for Jewish Life), a new model of community and cultural center for Central and Northern Brooklyn, is hiring a Chief Development Officer to lead fundraising and resource development. Since its founding, The Neighborhood has produced hundreds of pop-up events celebrating Jewish life, and it has now secured a permanent space in Williamsburg that will serve as an artistic venue and community home. Reporting to the CEO, you'll build the development function and lead a capital campaign with an eight-figure, three-year fundraising target. DRG is running the search.

Responsibilities:
• Build the fundraising strategy, infrastructure and systems the organization needs as it grows
• Design and lead the capital campaign: pitch materials, gift range chart, prospect pipeline, solicitation calendar and launch plan
• Identify, qualify and close six-figure-plus gifts, and prepare the CEO and board for donor meetings
• Develop philanthropic opportunities tied to the new facility, including membership and donor recognition
• Expand and diversify the donor base, and strengthen events, appeals and stewardship
• Set up CRM, prospect tracking and reporting, and manage outside campaign counsel
• Build a culture of philanthropy across staff and board

Qualifications:
• 7+ years in major gift fundraising, including 3+ years in campaign leadership
• Experience managing or directing a capital campaign and building development systems
• Strong CRM skills (Salesforce, Raiser's Edge or equivalent)
• Persuasive writing and speaking, including writing a case for support
• Experience in Jewish, arts, cultural or community organizations is ideal

Salary: $170,000–$180,000

Benefits:
Tax-free health reimbursement (QSEHRA) at the IRS maximum, with more benefits planned as the organization grows.

**Schedule:** In person at a downtown Brooklyn office, moving to Williamsburg once renovations finish. Some evening and weekend events are required.
