Job description

The Spirit of the Position:

The Maintenance Team Lead is a hands-on, junior leadership position responsible for directing a small team of Maintenance Technicians in completing assigned maintenance projects safely, efficiently and professionally. Unlike the Maintenance Technician who manages their own individual tasks, the Team Lead oversees the collective efforts of the team, coordinates the work onsite, ensures quality and safety standards and maintains accurate documentation and reporting. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Team Lead is an opportunity for a motivated individual to develop leadership, technical and managerial skills while gaining experience managing people, projects, customers and resources. This position offers a clear opportunity to grow into a Maintenance Supervisor role, eventually managing independent teams and larger projects.

Principal Job Duties:

Review assigned scope of work and organize daily activities onsite
Delegate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion
Coordinate team breaks and daily workflow
Communicate progress, challenges and resource needs to the Maintenance Supervisor

Work Preparation & Execution

Review job requirements and prepare necessary tools, equipment, and materials
Organize onsite work areas and coordinate daily setup and cleanup
Ensure work is completed according to assigned job ticket scope and quality standards
Assist technicians with hands-on maintenance work and train in technique where needed
Identify additional work requirements and report them to the Maintenance Supervisor
Safety & Compliance

Promote safe working practices with the team and maintain an organized jobsite
Ensure proper PPE usage and uniform compliance
Monitor safe operation of tools, equipment and property
Identify and promptly report safety concerns.

Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and complete maintenance checklists and work documentation to the Maintenance Manager
Capture and share before, during and after photos
Document work progress, completed tasks and outstanding items
Provide accurate daily updates and client-facing work reports
