Russian Translator

JF&CS is looking for a Russian Translator who will serve as a vital link between Family Table staff and Russian-speaking clients, helping ensure equitable access to food assistance services. The Russian Translator will provide language support through verbal interpretation, written translation, and client outreach. The role is ideal for someone who is fluent in Russian and English, enjoys working directly with people, and is committed to providing outstanding customer service in a mission-driven environment.

 

Responsibilities of the Russian Translator

• Monitor a message line for Russian-speaking clients and ensure that questions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner
• Conduct intakes to determine eligibility for Family Table services
• Cover incoming phone calls one weekend per month (Friday afternoon through Sunday early afternoon)
• Make confirmation calls to remind clients about upcoming distributions
• Translate recipes weekly, and other written documents as needed
• Attend regular check-ins with supervisor to stay current on program activities and agency updates

 

Requirements of the Russian Translator

• Fluency in both the Russian and English language, including speaking, reading, and writing
• Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience working with older adults preferred
• Ability to complete translations quickly and accurately
• Ability to work with patience and sensitivity
• Strong customer service orientation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Interest in/knowledge of nutrition and cooking a plus
