Lifeguard/Swim Instructor (FT)

The St. Louis JCC is hiring a full-time Lifeguard/Swim Instructor at its main campus in St. Louis to keep patrons safe and teach swim lessons and aquatics classes.

Responsibilities:
• Guard the pool to J and American Red Cross standards and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies
• Enforce all aquatic facility policies and rules
• Teach private and group swim lessons and aquatics exercise classes, and keep lesson records up to date
• Assist with scheduling and supervising part-time staff
• Inspect the facility daily, report unsafe conditions and keep the deck and aquatics office clean
• Complete timesheets, accident reports, class rosters and daily inspection reports on time
• Attend in-service trainings and staff meetings, and help promote aquatics programs

Qualifications:
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid certification (or Waterpark Lifeguarding), or the ability to obtain it
• Able to swim continuously and pass certification and recertification standards
• Able to perform CPR, AED and First Aid, and to lift, drag and remove a grown adult in an emergency
• Strong customer service, leadership and sound decision-making
• Schedule flexibility to open or close the pools and work across multiple locations
