Upper School Student Support Specialist

Robert M. Beren Academy is a Modern Orthodox Jewish day school in Houston serving students from early childhood through 12th grade. It is hiring a Student Support Specialist (30 hours/week) for the Upper School, working mainly with students who need additional support in their learning. The position starts immediately.

Responsibilities:
• Provide direct instruction to students individually or in small groups, in or outside the classroom
• Provide diagnostic and prescriptive services, and gather assessment information to choose interventions
• Review student records and share expertise with classroom teachers on multi-level instruction
• Develop and maintain personal learning plans and accommodations sheets for each student
• Advocate for students and build strong partnerships with parents, including written reports and meetings each reporting period

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Successful teaching experience with students performing below grade level; middle and high school experience preferred
• Knowledge of the referral process in private schools and with HISD or other local education agencies
• Strict confidentiality, strong rapport with students and families, and good written and oral communication
• Desired: ESL experience and Hebrew
