RoyalBag Bookkeeper Job Description
About RoyalBag
We're an import-driven poly bag and packaging company in Brooklyn, selling to businesses through B2B distribution and ecommerce.
The role
You'll handle our day-to-day bookkeeping: pay the bills, collect the money, and keep the books current. Our processes are in place. We need someone who runs them reliably and speaks up when something looks off.
You'll work closely with our sales, purchasing, and logistics teams. You'll be the one who resolves customer and vendor questions and discrepancies on invoices, bills, and payments, and who flags errors and issues quickly.
This is our sole accounting role today, with room to grow as the finance team expands.
Responsibilities
Accounts receivable
• Apply customer payments, deposits, and credits
• Track open balances and follow up on past-due accounts
• Flag collection risks and credit concerns to management early
Accounts payable
• Enter and match vendor bills to purchase orders and receipts
• Prepare payment runs, print checks, and process ACH and wire payments
• Keep vendor records, payment terms, and W-9s up to date
Reconciliation and month-end
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly
• Post routine journal entries
• Keep supporting documents organized and easy to find
• Keep clear notes on processes so the work can be covered and improved
What success looks like
• Vendors paid on time, every time
• Receivables collected and aging under control
• Bank and credit card accounts reconciled each month
• Clean books, ready for Controller, management and accountant review
Requirements
• 1+ years of bookkeeping experience (AP, AR, and reconciliations); 5+ years in a product-based business a strong plus
• Experience with accounting software (NetSuite a plus) and Excel
• Tech-savvy and quick to learn new systems and tools
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently with light supervision
• Accurate, organized, and dependable with deadlines
• Clear, professional communication
Nice to have
• NetSuite experience
• Product, inventory, or distribution background
• Comfort using automation and AI tools to speed up routine work
• Coursework or a degree in accounting
Pay range note: We’ll consider the top of the range for candidates with 5+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience in a business that sells products.
