Job description

Construction Project Manager – Commercial & Industrial

Montvale, NJ

$100,000–$175,000

Office-Based Position

Overview

A growing commercial construction company specializing in large-scale industrial projects is seeking a sharp, motivated Construction Project Manager to help oversee projects from planning through completion.

The company handles multimillion-dollar construction projects, including warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and industrial buildings, and is experiencing significant growth.

We’re looking for someone who knows construction, can read plans, understands how projects come together, and knows how to keep things moving.

This is not an entry-level position, but you don’t need to have managed massive projects independently. The right person brings solid construction experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to take ownership without needing constant direction.

This is primarily an office-based role, working closely with field teams and leadership to ensure projects stay organized, on schedule, and moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee commercial and industrial construction projects from the office

Review architectural and construction plans, specifications, and project documentation

Work closely with on-site project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors

Monitor project progress, schedules, deadlines, and outstanding items

Coordinate inspections, approvals, and other project requirements

Review contracts, project details, and documentation to ensure accuracy and follow-through

Identify potential issues early and work with the team to resolve them

Maintain communication between ownership, field personnel, and other stakeholders

Take ownership of assigned projects and ensure nothing falls through the cracks

Ideal Candidate

Experience in commercial construction, preferably with a general contractor

Strong ability to read and understand construction plans — required

Background in construction project management, assistant project management, or project coordination

Good understanding of construction processes, trades, and project execution

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple moving pieces

Proactive problem-solver who thinks ahead and follows through

Excellent communication skills and confidence working with contractors and field teams

Self-motivated, responsible, and comfortable taking ownership

Able to contribute immediately without extensive construction training

Ambitious and interested in growing into larger project responsibilities
