What You'll Get To Do:

The Logistics Specialist supports the day-to-day execution of domestic transportation across truckload, less-than-truckload, parcel, drayage, intermodal, and other applicable modes. The role coordinates shipments from tender through delivery, monitors service exceptions, communicates with carriers and internal business partners, and helps ensure freight moves safely, on time, and in accordance with operating requirements.

Reporting to the Manager of Transportation Operations, this position serves as a primary operational contact for domestic shipment activity. The Logistics Specialist focuses on shipment execution, track-and-trace, exception resolution, carrier coordination, rate and invoice support, operational documentation, and customer service. The role uses standard reports and transportation systems to manage daily work, while contributing practical ideas for process improvement.

Objectives of the Role

Execute and support end-to-end domestic transportation activities from shipment request through final delivery.
Maintain timely, accurate communication with carriers, stakeholders, warehouses, and track-and-trace partners.
Identify shipment risks and service failures early, coordinate corrective actions, and escalate issues appropriately.
Support reliable transportation processes, accurate system data, and consistent operational service.
Domestic Transportation Operations

Coordinate daily domestic shipments, including load planning support, carrier tendering, pickup scheduling, appointment coordination, and delivery follow-up.
Monitor shipments from booking through final delivery and maintain accurate milestones in transportation systems and operational trackers.
Perform proactive track-and-trace and communicate status, delays, recovery plans, and delivery risks to internal stakeholders.
Work directly with carriers, warehouses, suppliers, customers, and stakeholders to resolve pickup, transit, delivery, capacity, and documentation issues.
Support daily operational stand-up meetings and maintain clear action logs for open shipments and escalations.
Investigate missed pickups, late deliveries, service failures, and recurring operational issues; document root causes and coordinate corrective actions.
Help manage urgent, expedited, high-priority, and special-handling shipments in accordance with established procedures.
Support month-end and year-end shipment closure activities, including confirmation of delivery status and resolution of open transportation exceptions.
Maintain shipment records, proofs of delivery, bills of lading, appointment details, and other required transportation documentation.
Carrier, Rate, and Freight Payment Support

Coordinate routine capacity and rate requests with approved domestic carriers and internal stakeholders.
Validate that required rates, accessorials, shipment details, and carrier information are available and accurately reflected in applicable systems.
Review freight invoice discrepancies and carrier disputes; gather supporting documentation and coordinate resolution with carriers and freight payment partners.
Support carrier onboarding, routing-guide compliance, and day-to-day carrier performance follow-up.
Escalate repeated service, capacity, billing, or communication concerns to transportation leadership.
Operational Reporting and Process Support

Responsible for developing and delivering monthly and bi-annual ROG (Revenue Opportunity Gap) and Transit Time analyses to support revenue recognition accuracy and validate transit time performance.
Maintain standard daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for shipment status, exceptions, service, and carrier performance.
Use Excel, transportation systems, and standard reporting tools to identify open items and support operational decisions.
Document standard operating procedures, desk instructions, and process updates.
Participate in operational improvement activities focused on service, cost, accuracy, and efficiency.
Team and Customer Support

Provide responsive, professional support to internal customers and external service providers.
Cross-train on domestic transportation processes and provide coverage for team members as needed.
Contribute to a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused team culture.
