Job description
Temple Beth-El in Jersey City, a growing, progressive Reform congregation in Hudson County, is looking for passionate, engaging teachers for its Sunday morning religious school for the 2026–2027 (5787) school year. Openings include Hebrew and Judaics teaching as well as a permanent substitute/floater. The school day also includes a brief clergy-led service, a rotating music specialist, and a mid-morning Kiddush/Motzi snack.
Responsibilities:
• Teach Hebrew and Judaics using the curriculum set by the religious school director
• Bring your own creativity to lessons within that curriculum
• Cover classes as a permanent substitute or floater, depending on the role
Qualifications:
• A joyful Jew who wants to teach
• Classroom experience is welcome but not required; the school will help you learn and grow as a teacher
**Pay:** $60–$70/hour, based on experience
**Schedule:** Sunday mornings only, 9:30 AM–12:00 PM
