Director of Social Services

The Ark, Chicago's safety net for the Jewish community, is hiring a Director of Social Services to lead its Social Services and Intake & Eligibility teams. You'll supervise the department directly and own how it runs (staffing, schedules, performance, workflows and results), while carrying a small client caseload that keeps you close to the people The Ark serves. Reports to the Chief Program Officer and partners closely with the Assistant Director, who gives clinical guidance to the case management team.

Responsibilities:
• Supervise the Assistant Director, case managers, and intake and eligibility staff
• Manage calendars, schedules, PTO and coverage across locations
• Lead performance management, evaluations and coaching, plus hiring and onboarding with HR
• Track caseloads, documentation and client contacts, and act on what the data shows
• Oversee intake and eligibility so clients reach services quickly and fairly
• Manage the department budgets and report on performance, risks and capacity
• Coordinate care across The Ark's housing, medical, food security and economic stability programs

Qualifications:
• Master's in social work, human services, counseling or a related field, or a bachelor's with substantial leadership experience
• 5–7+ years in social or human services, including at least 3 years supervising staff
• Direct case management experience and experience leading a client-service team
• Reliable transportation to the Northbrook location once a week
• An LCSW, LCPC or other clinical license, Salesforce experience, and familiarity with Jewish life are pluses
