Job description
Philadelphia Hebrew Public (PHP), part of the Hebrew Public network of tuition-free public charter schools, is hiring K-2 Special Education Teachers to start immediately. You'll give push-in and pull-out support to elementary students with IEPs, manage a caseload, and work closely with general education teachers, families and service providers. Hebrew Public is a secular network that welcomes candidates of all backgrounds, and you don't need to speak Hebrew to apply.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver specially designed instruction in reading, writing and math aligned to IEP goals and grade-level standards
• Teach small groups and individual students, using differentiation and targeted intervention to accelerate growth
• Manage a caseload, implementing IEP goals, services and accommodations with fidelity
• Collect progress-monitoring data, keep compliance records current, and take part in IEP meetings
• Partner with general education teachers on accommodations, co-teaching and inclusive practices
• Communicate regularly with families about progress, strengths and needs
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree
• Pennsylvania Special Education certification, or actively working toward it
• Strong grasp of IEP implementation, progress monitoring and compliance
• Experience in urban school communities preferred
Salary: $55,000–$88,000. After the first year, teachers may earn 5% or 10% annual increases based on classroom impact, plus built-in enhancements for Pennsylvania certification and hard-to-fill roles.
Benefits:
85% employer-paid medical and dental, 100% employer-paid vision, a 5% retirement match with no vesting period, 30+ holidays plus PTO, six weeks of paid parental leave, fertility coverage, and instructional coaching and certification support.
