Job description

About the Role

We are hiring Business Development Representatives to build the outbound engine for the office of the CFO.

The demand is already here. CFOs and Controllers at $100M to $1B companies are being asked by their CEOs how AI will change their teams, and we have the product that answers it. What we need is more conversations. Our BDRs are the people who start them: on the phone, every day, with the finance leaders who run the close, the cash and the revenue at companies in our target verticals.

This is a founding cohort. We are three Account Executives and three BDRs today and plan to be ten of each by the end of January. You will own a vertical, not a list: one segment of the market that you learn cold, prospect end to end, and build the playbook for. You report to our Head of Sales Development, who built the SDR organization at Rippling from three people to thirty, and you will get direct coaching from the CRO and the AEs you book for.

The BDR team is our farm system for Account Executives. We promote from within on discipline, coachability and execution, and we are adding AE seats fast enough that the path is real.

What You'll Own

Own a vertical: run outbound into one segment of $100M to $1B companies (B2B software, CPG, manufacturing, wholesale distribution, construction, hospitality or health services) and become the person on the team who knows it best

Live on the phone: roughly four hours a day of cold calls to CFOs, Controllers and VPs of Finance, with email and LinkedIn layered in as we stand those channels up

Book and hold 12 to 15 qualified meetings a month at full ramp, and hand each one to your AE with a real brief: who they are, what hurts, what systems they run, and what happens next

Work inbound in your segment: content downloads and demo requests route to you, and you follow up the same day

Research before you dial: ERP, close process, PE backing, hiring signals, so the first thirty seconds of every call land

Partner with your AE on account plans, multi-threading into the finance org, and reviving closed-lost accounts

Keep HubSpot clean: every call, meeting and note logged, so the funnel we run the business on is real

Write and test talk tracks and sequences with the Head of Sales Development; what works becomes the playbook for the next ten BDRs

Bring the market back inside: the objections you hear, the messaging that lands, and the segments that bite

What You Should Have Done Before

Earned attention from strangers for a living. Either 6 to 24 months as an outbound BDR or SDR with a quota you hit, or a non-traditional background with hard evidence you can do measurable work under pressure: college athletics, a founder stint, client-facing finance or consulting

Picked up the phone when it was the harder option. Cold calling is the core of this job today, and you should want it to be

Held a conversation with a finance leader, or shown you can learn enough accounting to hold one within your first month

Taken coaching well. You want your calls reviewed, and you change what you do when you get the feedback

Executed a process every day without being chased: the activity, the logging, the follow-up

Based in New York City or willing to relocate; we work from our Manhattan office five days a week

High energy, high agency. You bring it to the floor and the people dialing next to you feel it

You'll Stand Out If

You have prospected into finance buyers (CFO, Controller, treasury, RevOps) at a fintech, ERP, billing, close or spend-management company

You have an accounting, audit or FP&A background, or a CPA you would rather use in a conversation than a spreadsheet

You were a founding or early BDR somewhere and helped write the playbook, not just run it

You build your own tooling: AI prospecting workflows, enrichment, call prep, anything that gets you to more of the right conversations

You competed at a high level in something: Division I sports, a startup you founded, a job with a public scoreboard

What Great Looks Like Here

You treat the phone as the best channel, not the last resort. A live conversation is the strongest pattern interrupt there is, and you go get it

You want the AE seat, and you are earning it by doing the job in front of you better than anyone else

You are curious about how a finance team actually closes the books, and you can explain what our agents do for one in two sentences

You dial with the people next to you, share what is working, and make the floor louder
