Swim Instructor

Commonpoint, a multifaceted community center serving 100,000+ members across 80+ sites in New York City, seeks part-time Swim Instructors for its Central Queens location. Reporting to the Director of Aquatics, instructors teach private and group lessons to children and adults of all levels based on American Red Cross standards.

Responsibilities:
• Instruct swim lesson participants and ensure their safety in private and group classes
• Create a fun, nurturing, hands-on learning environment with lesson plans for children through adults
• Evaluate students and answer participant and parent questions after class
• Arrive 15 minutes before scheduled start times and attend mandatory meetings and trainings
• Respond immediately and appropriately in emergencies

Qualifications:
• Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate swim instruction skills
• Ability to use teaching aids such as kickboards
• Energy, enthusiasm and ability to work independently
• Able to swim 25 yards, handle small children in the water and lift up to 50 lbs

**Pay:** $22.00-$40.00 per hour, depending on experience and certifications

**Schedule:** For example, Saturday and Sunday 12-4pm and Monday-Friday 3-7pm. Indoor pool at 67-09 108th Street, Forest Hills.
