Early Pathways Advisor

Commonpoint's High School and College Success Division is hiring an Early Pathways Advisor for 9th and 10th graders at the Academy for Careers in Television & Film High School in Long Island City. You will deliver college and career readiness programming that builds students' early awareness of post-secondary options. The role also covers family engagement and work with school staff.

Responsibilities:
• Provide individual and small-group advisement on college, trade, certificate, military and career pathways
• Design and lead workshops for students and families on high school success, CUNY/SUNY/Common App and college affordability
• Coordinate guest speakers, panels and college or career visits
• Track student engagement and academic indicators, and flag students at risk early
• Communicate with families in English and Spanish
• Attend occasional evening events; some overnight travel may be required

Qualifications:
• Master's degree in psychology, social work, school counseling or a related field
• Bilingual in Spanish (required)
• 3+ years working with adolescents in an urban setting
• Workshop development experience preferred; college counseling experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of college applications, financial aid and vocational pathways
