Job description
Director of Operations | Brooklyn, NY (full-time, in office) · $150K+
A fast-growing, well-established New York construction-industry company is looking for a Director of Operations to run the business side of the house, report directly to the founder, and help take the company to its next level. This is a seat at the table, with real ownership and real upside as the company grows.
Who we're looking for
A high-energy, savvy, execution-focused operator. Type A, proactive, and driven to get things done. You see a problem, you fix it. You are the person who makes sure nothing falls through the cracks, and you deliver great results every time. You know construction and how its day-to-day, deadlines, and relationships really work.
What you'll do
- Lead and hold accountable every office department: estimating and proposals, procurement, office administration, HR, and PR
- Keep bids, takeoffs, and proposals moving on time, and make sure materials and orders are never late
- Run weekly subcontractor payments: collect invoices, verify work in place, and get the pay list approved
- Build and enforce SOPs for every team, and drive improvements from idea to done
- Keep the inbox and day-to-day running cleanly across the company
- Hire, onboard, and grow the team as the company scales
- Partner with the founder in buyout meetings and send a one-page weekly report
What you bring
- Strong operations or office-management background in construction (subcontractor, general contractor, or similar)
- Working knowledge of bids, submittals, procurement, change orders, and subcontractor payments
- Experience managing and motivating a team
- Extremely organized; comfortable in email, a CRM, and Excel
- A builder's mindset: you put systems in place, not just maintain them
- Direct, confident communicator
What's in it for you
- $150K+ compensation, with a company that rewards its team generously
- Reports directly to the founder, with real authority to build the team and systems
- Meaningful upside: a stake in the growth you help create
