Job description

What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership

Lead and manage Hillel’s movement-wide strategy for Jewish education, ensuring that Jewish ideas and educational purpose are present in Hillel’s strategy, programs, culture, engagement, and vision
Develop and communicate ideas that resonate with campus professionals, inspire new approaches to Jewish learning and practice, and deepen Hillels’ capacity to encounter Torah and build meaningful Jewish lives.
Translate educational vision into new programs, models, and ways for students and professionals to relate to Jewish learning, Torah, Israel, Shabbat, Jewish community, and Jewish peoplehood.
Identify and support opportunities to deploy and elevate the voices of Hillel professionals across the Hillel field, and key leadership within the Schusterman International Center.
Serve as a visible public voice of Torah and Jewish learning through teaching, writing, speaking, and participation in the conversations that matter most to Hillel and the broader Jewish community.
At the direction of and in partnership with Hillel International's CEO, COO, and senior leadership team, represent Hillel International at sector convenings, strategic meetings, and public gatherings, and in relationships with current and prospective partners.
Portfolio Management

Provide strategic leadership to the Center for Jewish and Israel Education and the Meyerhoff Center for Jewish Experience, creating greater coordination and collaboration while understanding and strengthening their distinct areas of expertise.
Assess the existing Jewish educational portfolio with clarity and discernment, determining which programs should be sustained, strengthened, expanded, redesigned, or concluded.
Develop and deploy new internal and partnered rabbinic and educational resources to advance Hillel’s educational presence and thought leadership across the Hillel movement and throughout the Jewish world.
Drive meaningful progress on priority areas including Shabbat, cohort-based learning, and Israel education, while building and scaling programs that introduce new ideas.
Own complex budgets, establish clear priorities, allocate people and resources thoughtfully, and ensure that investments align with organizational strategy and measurable outcomes.
Partner with senior fundraising professionals on vision development, donor engagement, proposals, stewardship, and reporting, and build trusted relationships with funders and philanthropic stakeholders.
Develop and model outstanding Jewish and Israel educational programs and experiences in ways that positively influence the broader fields for both domains.

What You’ll Bring to the Job
Accomplished Jewish educator and executive: You bring the rare combination of substantive educational vision and the executive capacity to lead senior professionals, complex programs, budgets, and organizational change.
Public teacher and translator: You teach Torah compellingly, write and speak with clarity, and translate sophisticated Jewish ideas for broad and diverse audiences without sacrificing depth or nuance.
Strategic innovator: You are energized by program development and new ideas, bring a bias for action, and know how to move from compelling concepts to programs that can be tested, evaluated, improved, and scaled.
Cross-Functional collaborator: You communicate effectively and build partnerships across teams and functions. You are as committed to the success of the broader organization and movement.
Credible public and philanthropic partner: You build trust with funders, educational organizations, thought partners, and external stakeholders, and can make a compelling case for ambitious Jewish educational work.
Results-oriented leader: You set measurable goals, evaluate progress, learn from evidence and the field, and adapt your approach to achieve meaningful outcomes for students, professionals, campuses, and the movement.

What You've Accomplished
At least 10 - 15 years of progressively responsible professional experience, including significant service in senior leadership roles.
Demonstrated ability to teach Torah, write and speak for broad audiences, and contribute substantive thought leadership through Jewish communal conversations both within the movement and beyond it. A record of success as both a Jewish educator and an organizational or executive leader.
Demonstrated experience leading, developing, and supporting talented teams, including senior professionals and established leaders.
Significant experience designing, launching, evaluating, and growing educational programs.
Experience managing substantial budgets, setting priorities, and allocating resources in alignment with organizational strategy.
Experience partnering with senior fundraising professionals and cultivating trusted relationships with funders and philanthropic stakeholders.
Experience within Hillel or another complex, distributed Jewish communal, educational, or mission-driven organization is a plus.
