Job description

🎯 Role
As a QA Automation Engineer, you’ll help make Memorang’s web, mobile, and AI-enabled learning products reliable, accessible, and ready for real learners. You’ll combine hands-on exploratory testing with pragmatic automation, partnering with product, design, and engineering from specification through release.

This is not a ticket-closing role. You’ll surface risks early, translate acceptance criteria into clear test plans, and help build the quality systems that let a fast-moving team ship with confidence.

🛠️ Sample projects could include…
Building and maintaining Playwright smoke and regression coverage for core web journeys, including authentication, account management, content flows, assessments, purchases, and reporting.
Creating concise, cross-platform release checklists for web, iOS, and Android, with clear pass/fail evidence and owner handoffs.
Reviewing specifications, designs, and acceptance criteria before development to identify edge cases, missing states, accessibility risks, and testability gaps.
Testing large or high-risk changes across UI, APIs, permissions, integrations, and data flows; documenting reproducible findings in Linear with screenshots, recordings, logs, and expected behavior.
Establishing deterministic test data, stable test accounts, and test IDs that make automated checks dependable in preview, staging, and CI environments.
Expanding API, contract, negative-path, and permission coverage to complement UI automation and reduce flaky end-to-end tests.
Investigating failures, validating fixes, and turning incident learnings into regression checks or improvements to the release process.
Partnering with engineering to improve preview and staging workflows, quality gates, CI feedback, and release-readiness reporting.

🤝 You might be a fit if you…
Have 5+ years of QA or quality engineering experience, including meaningful ownership of automation and release validation.
Write maintainable test code in JavaScript or TypeScript and have hands-on experience with Playwright or comparable web automation frameworks.
Can test across web and mobile surfaces and understand the differences between browser, iOS, and Android validation.
Have experience testing REST APIs, integrations, authentication, permissions, and data-dependent workflows—not only happy-path UI behavior.
Know how to design risk-based test plans, prioritize critical journeys, and balance manual exploration with durable automation.
Care deeply about accessibility, responsive behavior, error states, and the real user experience.
Produce high-signal bug reports with clear reproduction steps, evidence, expected versus actual behavior, and appropriate severity.
Communicate clearly with product and engineering partners, challenge ambiguous requirements constructively, and close the loop on fixes.
Treat automated test failures as engineering signals: you can diagnose flakiness, improve test reliability, and keep CI feedback actionable.
Are comfortable operating in an evolving environment and improving the quality process as the product and team scale.
