Job description

Responsibilities

Develop the electrical and physical design of high-voltage substations and switchyards (34.5 kV–345 kV)
Develop one-line diagrams, protection philosophies, grounding systems, station layouts, and equipment specifications
If applicable, prepare engineering calculations including:

Short-circuit studies
Grounding analysis
Lightning protection
Cable sizing
AC/DC station service
If applicable, prepare design documents including:

Station General Arrangements
Elevations and sectional views
Grounding and conduit details
Foundation and steel details
Control building arrangements and details
Specify and coordinate major equipment including:

Power transformers
Gas circuit breakers
Disconnect switches
Instrument transformers
Protection and control systems
Coordinate with utilities, EPC contractors, civil, structural, transmission line, and protection engineers
Review vendor drawings and provide technical guidance throughout procurement and construction
Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), commissioning, and energization activities
About You

B.S. in Electrical Engineering
5+ years of experience in high-voltage substation engineering
Strong experience designing substations from 34.5 kV through 345 kV
Experience with utility interconnections and transmission systems
Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, NESC, and applicable utility standards
Experience with grounding design, protection coordination, and relay applications
PE license preferred (or ability to obtain)
Occasional travel to job site is required
Preferred Experience

Experience with one or more of the following:

AI or hyperscale data centers
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
Transmission switchyards
Substation electrical configurations
Gas-insulated or air-insulated substations
ETAP, CDEGS, ASPEN, or SKM
AutoCAD, and Bluebeam
