- Supervise and review the work of external bookkeepers during the transition period and any future accounting support staff
- Maintain ownership of the general ledger and ensure accuracy across all accounting records
- Ensure inventory is accurately valued and reconciled on an ongoing basis
- Manage inventory accounting, landed costs, freight allocations, inventory adjustments, and related reporting
- Track and maintain accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) accounting across all sales channels
- Reconcile inventory balances and investigate discrepancies with purchasing, warehouse, and operations teams
- Perform bank, credit card, vendor, inventory, and general ledger reconciliations
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes
- Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for ownership and outside accountants
- Coordinate with external accounting and tax professionals regarding compliance and reporting requirements
- Establish stronger accounting controls, procedures, and approval processes
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, accuracy, and operational efficiency
- Support ownership with cash flow visibility and day-to-day financial management
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Previous experience as a Senior Bookkeeper, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Junior Controller, or similar accounting lead role
- Strong hands-on experience managing both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Mandatory experience with inventory accounting and inventory valuation
- Strong understanding of cost of goods sold (COGS), landed costs, inventory adjustments, and cost accounting principles
- Experience overseeing or reviewing bookkeeping activities
- Accounting experience in e-commerce, consumer products, wholesale, distribution, manufacturing, or inventory-driven businesses strongly preferred
- Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to independently manage accounting operations with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- CPA designation is a plus but not required
Compensation & Benefits:
- Approximately $130,000-$140,000 salary (DOE)
- Direct interaction with owners and decision makers
