Job description

Role Summary
As Butter's first Head of Content & Media, you'll build our media arm from the ground up. Think of it as launching a channel from scratch inside a software company. You'll create bite-sized video content on a weekly cadence, test formats and hooks relentlessly, and build a team of editors, motion designers, and writers to scale it. Working directly with the CEO, you'll turn product launches, partner collabs, and tutorials into content people actually want to watch, not feature announcements.

Key Responsibilities
Domains You'll Own:

Content cadence and output (2–3 pieces per week to start)

Creative direction and hook testing

Freelance production team

Creator and influencer collaborations

Audience growth and content performance

Overall You'll:

Stand up Butter's content engine from zero: formats, workflows, and a publishing calendar

Concept, script, and direct short-form video that stands out rather than copying what's already out there

Run structured experiments on hooks, formats, and platforms, then double down on what works

Recruit, brief, and manage a bench of freelance video editors, motion designers, and copywriters

Partner with creators and influencers to extend reach through collaborations

Turn new features, tutorials, and partner collabs into entertaining, shareable content

Build the systems and feedback loops that keep content shipping consistently

[Help design a scalable production model, including a potential offshore team]

Qualifications
4+ years building content, media, or creator programs, ideally with at least one built from scratch

Video-first: you've conceptualized, directed, or produced short-form video, not just written content

Experience managing freelancers or production teams on a recurring cadence

Deep fluency in modern social media: algorithms, hooks, and what makes content spread today

A creative point of view that's a little unconventional, balanced with type-A operational discipline

A track record of measurable results: views, followers, engagement, or signups driven by content you built
