Job description
We are seeking a senior technical leader for the Network Security Engineer. You will define the strategy, architecture, engineering, automation, and lifecycle management of Ford’s global network security platforms. Your work will advance Zero Trust and SASE, strengthen cloud and enterprise connectivity, and help ensure network services are secure, resilient, and highly available.
This role combines deep network security expertise with architecture leadership, automation, operational discipline, and collaboration across global teams. You will partner with engineering and operations teams, business stakeholders, and technology providers to modernize network security and support Ford’s enterprise, manufacturing, cloud, supplier, dealer, and partner environments.
Network Security Strategy, Architecture & Modernization
Define the enterprise network security architecture and technology roadmap.
Lead strategy for Zero Trust, Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Prisma Access, firewalls, proxies, Cisco ISE, SD-WAN, wireless, DNS/DHCP/IPAM, and F5 technologies.
Design secure, reliable connectivity for Ford’s enterprise, manufacturing, cloud, supplier, dealer, and partner environments.
Modernize legacy VPN and DMZ architectures by advancing Zero Trust access models.
Establish and maintain security standards, governance practices, and compliance approaches for network security platforms.
Partner with technical teams and technology providers—including Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, and F5—to evaluate capabilities, guide implementation, and plan platform lifecycles.
Security Engineering, Automation & Risk Reduction
Drive network security engineering and platform improvements in partnership with development and infrastructure teams.
Advance network automation and Infrastructure as Code practices to improve consistency, efficiency, and reliability.
Lead or coordinate remediation of security vulnerabilities, including urgent and zero-day risks.
Apply Agentic AI automation where appropriate to improve security operations and engineering workflows.
Champion Full Stack Observability (FSO) and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to strengthen service health and operational insight.
Operations, Availability & Incident Leadership
Support major incidents, change management, technical escalations, and enterprise network security operations.
Help ensure 24x7 availability of global network security services through Follow-the-Sun operations.
Collaborate with global operations teams to maintain secure, resilient, and highly available platforms.
Provide technical direction during complex troubleshooting and network security issues.
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to network security engineers.
Build strong working relationships across network, cloud, security, infrastructure, manufacturing, and operations teams.
Coordinate with internal teams and technology partners to align architecture, engineering, and operational practices.
Communicate technical strategies, risks, dependencies, and recommendations clearly to technical and business stakeholders.
We recognize that no one person will embody every quality or skill listed below. If you bring deep network security experience and are motivated to modernize and protect complex enterprise environments, we encourage you to apply.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field—or equivalent relevant experience.
Preferred degree: Bachelor of Technology.
Experience
12+ years of enterprise IT experience.
6+ years of network security engineering experience.
Experience defining or implementing enterprise network security architecture, technology strategy, or platform roadmaps.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale network environments and operational processes.
Experience with network automation, incident management, problem management, and change management.
Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate across engineering and operations teams.
Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical direction in a complex environment.
Required Technical Experience
Strong expertise in Palo Alto firewalls, Prisma Access, Cisco Umbrella, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), SASE, and intrusion prevention/detection systems (IPS/IDS).
Hands-on experience with Cisco ISE, SD-WAN/SDN, F5 load balancers, and DNS/DHCP/IP address management (IPAM), including TCPWave.
Strong knowledge of routing, switching, LAN/WAN, MPLS, IPsec VPN, and DMZ architecture.
Proficiency with Wireshark and network packet analysis.
Experience with enterprise network operations, technical escalations, incident response, and change management.
Experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code practices.
Ability to assess network security risks and vulnerabilities, prioritize remediation, and communicate technical impact.
