Job description

THE ROLE
The Marketing Manager owns AOSN’s marketing function end to end, including strategy, brand, content, and channels. You will build an annual marketing plan tied to our growth goals, put in place the processes and asset library that let a small team support a large network, and measure what works.

You will be the marketing partner to operations leaders, practice teams, and doctors, translating their needs into clear plans, and the steward of the AOSN brand with referring veterinarians, pet parents, candidates, and the specialty community.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Set Marketing Strategy and Drive Growth
• Build and own an annual marketing strategy and plan that supports AOSN’s growth goals, specifically referral growth, new client acquisition, new-location launches, and integration of newly acquired practices.

• Develop targeted programs for AOSN’s core audiences: referring veterinarians, pet parents, and the specialists and team members we want to recruit.

• Partner with operations and practice leadership to identify growth opportunities by market, specialty, and location, and build campaigns to capture them.

• Support doctor recruitment with the Recruiting team through employer branding, recruitment campaigns, and candidate-facing materials.

• Set marketing KPIs, track performance, and report results and ROI to leadership; use data to refine spend and priorities.

• Own the marketing budget and manage agency and vendor relationships.

Build Our Brands and Reputation
• Own the AOSN brand and the brand architecture across our practices, ensuring a consistent, professional presence as the network grows.

• Develop and enforce brand standards, messaging, and voice; serve as the final brand approver.

• Build AOSN’s external reputation with referring veterinarians, the specialty community, and pet parents through thought leadership, doctor spotlights, case stories, and PR.

• Manage online reputation, including review monitoring and response strategy across Google and other platforms.

• Plan and lead AOSN’s presence at industry and specialty conferences (for example, ACVIM Forum, NAVDF, ACVS Surgery Summit, and VCS), from materials and booth through follow-up.

Create and Manage Collateral and Assets
• Build and maintain a centralized, organized library of brand assets, templates, photography, video, and collateral that practices and teams can easily access.

• Create and refresh referral materials, client education pieces, signage, and practice-level collateral in both print and digital formats.

• Establish intake, review, and approval workflows so marketing requests are prioritized and delivered on time and on brand.

Lead Our Digital, Print, and Social Presence
• Own the AOSN website and practice web pages, including content, user experience, local SEO, and conversion to appointments and referrals.

• Lead social media strategy across platforms, including content calendars, community engagement, and performance tracking.

• Plan and execute digital campaigns, including paid search and social, email, and referring-veterinarian communications.

• Oversee print production, from direct mail and brochures to signage and event materials.

• Manage Google Business Profiles and online listings for every location.

Lead and Develop the Team
• Lead, coach, and develop the Marketing Coordinator, setting priorities and growing the team’s creative and digital capabilities.

• Act as the marketing partner to practice leaders and doctors, translating their needs into clear plans.

• Contribute hands-on creative work as needed, including copywriting, graphic design, and video editing.

• Model and champion AOSN’s mission, vision, and core values.

Other duties as assigned to support the needs of the business.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN YEAR ONE
• An annual marketing strategy and plan is in place and aligned with leadership, with clear KPIs and regular performance reporting.

• Brand standards and messaging are documented and applied consistently across AOSN and its practices.

• A centralized asset library and request-intake process are live, and practices can get on-brand materials quickly.

• The website, location pages, and Google Business Profiles are current, optimized, and contributing measurably to appointment and referral growth.

• A consistent social media and referring-veterinarian communication cadence is running.

• The Marketing Coordinator has clear goals and a development plan, and the team is delivering on time and on budget.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Hands-on experience across website management, SEO, social media, digital advertising, email, print, and events.

• Strong writing and storytelling skills, with a sharp eye for brand consistency.

• Data-driven, with experience setting KPIs, analyzing campaign performance, and reporting to leadership.

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred
• Graphic design and video editing skills (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar).

• Familiarity with website CMS platforms, Google Analytics, Google Business Profile, and social and ad management tools.

• Experience in a private equity-backed or high-growth multi-site healthcare organization.

• Experience in veterinary medicine or specialty healthcare marketing.

LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES

• Influence and Collaboration - Builds trust with doctors, practice teams, and executives, and balances the needs of many stakeholders.

• Clear Communication - Writes and presents with clarity and tailors the message to every audience.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Approximately 10–20% travel to practices, industry and specialty conferences, events, and leadership meetings.

• Work is done primarily remotely via Microsoft Teams and Zoom, with in-person time at practices and events.

• The pace of a growing organization will at times require more than 40 hours per week, including occasional evenings or weekends around events and launches.
