Job description

What you'll do
Present in-depth analyses of ecommerce performance that go beyond reporting what happened, to explain the bigger trends behind it
Translate data into plain language for non-data stakeholders, and make clear recommendations to editorial, business development, and social teams
Identify growth opportunities and design tests to act on them
Own solving problems as they come up — looking for ways to automate or use tools and data rather than patch things manually
Support the business with regular reporting, dashboards, and insights, and keep them well-maintained over the course of the engagement
Lead ad-hoc analysis for major commerce moments during the contract window (Black Friday, Cyber Monday, holiday season, and into Q1)
Help set up reporting and processes that can hand off cleanly at the end of the term

What we're looking for
Skills

Strong analytical ability, with a track record of synthesizing data into concepts non-data people can act on
Strong understanding of affiliate ecommerce
Hands-on experience with Google Analytics and Big Query
Proficiency in Excel; experience with Google Sheets a plus
Experience with a data visualization tool — Looker, Google Data Studio (Looker Studio), or Tableau
Understanding of statistical concepts
Understanding of LLM’s and how they relate to retail/affiliate marketing

Experience

4+ year working in an analytical role
Background at an ecommerce company, media company, or tech company preferred — we're open to other paths that show the same analytical muscle
Titles like Analyst are typical, but we care more about the work than the title
Comfortable hitting the ground running — this is a short-term engagement over our highest-volume season

Nice to haves

Experience with BigQuery or another SQL-based analytics tool
Search experience — SEO, SEMRush or a competitor tool, Search Console
Paid social experience
Experience with an affiliate or retail brand business
Experience with LLM analytics

Education

No formal degree required. We've worked successfully with people who didn't go to college — what matters is that you're analytical and get results.
