Job description
About the role
The Associate, Legal (Infrastructure) — US is an early-career, US-based counsel role supporting the VP, Legal (Infrastructure) on construction, design and consultancy, equipment supply, real estate, and power workstreams for Nscale's US data centre campuses. Reports to the VP, Legal (Infrastructure.
This is a hands-on drafting and deal-support role with real ownership from day one and a clear path to running your own negotiations.
What you'll be doing
Draft and revise construction, design, consultancy, and equipment supply agreements, work orders, amendments, and change orders on Nscale's templates, under guidance.
Run first-turn reviews of counterparty markups: identify departures from house positions, prepare issues lists, and propose responses.
Help maintain Nscale's infrastructure contract templates and playbooks, tracking house positions and lessons learned across negotiations.
Support contract administration through delivery — notices, change orders, payment and holdback issues, warranty claims, and closeout — and keep contract trackers and records current.
Support real estate and power workstreams, including diligence on site acquisitions and leases and review of utility, interconnection, and power purchase documentation.
Coordinate insurance and bonding deliverables and vendor compliance requirements with the insurance team and counterparties.
Coordinate outside counsel on discrete matters, including scoping, budgets, and invoice review.
Build deep expertise in data centre construction, equipment, real estate, and power contracting, taking on increasing ownership of negotiations over time.
What you need
2–5 years of construction, real estate, commercial, or infrastructure legal experience, in-house or law firm.
Strong drafting and attention to detail.
Curiosity and bias to ownership.
Comfortable managing multiple workstreams at pace.
Qualified attorney admitted in at least one US state in good standing.
Nice to haves
Top-tier construction, real estate, or projects associate experience.
Exposure to data centre, energy, or large-scale construction projects.
Interest in technology, infrastructure, and energy.
