Job description
Our client is seeking a Business Systems Analyst / Project Manager to connect business operations with data and technology solutions.
This person will work directly with business teams to understand their processes, systems, data, and goals; turn that understanding into clear requirements; and manage projects through implementation. Projects may include data warehouse development, reporting, system integrations, custom applications, process improvement, and practical AI-enabled tools. The role will coordinate business users, internal technical teams, software vendors, and external consultants.
Key responsibilities
- Lead discovery with business leaders, subject-matter experts, and system users to understand workflows, business rules, system usage, exceptions, pain points, and desired outcomes.
- Analyze source systems and data to determine how business activity is recorded, processed, and reported.
- Work with users to validate data, reconcile findings, and confirm that proposed solutions reflect how the business operates.
- Turn business needs into clear functional and data requirements, process maps, use cases, and acceptance criteria.
- Manage project plans, priorities, milestones, risks, decisions, dependencies, and follow-up through completion.
- Communicate business context and requirements to developers, data engineers, vendors, consultants, and other technical partners.
- Use Excel and other analytical tools to wrangle data, test assumptions, investigate issues, and create ad hoc reports while permanent solutions are being developed.
- Identify useful opportunities for AI and automation and help manage their design, implementation, testing, controls, and adoption.
- Coordinate user testing and support documentation, training, rollout, and handoff.
Experience and skills
- Five or more years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, project management, or a related role.
- Experience gathering requirements and managing software, data, integration, reporting, or systems projects.
- Strong Excel and general data-analysis skills.
- Clear writing and communication skills, including the ability to explain business processes and technical findings in plain language.
- Comfortable meeting with users, learning unfamiliar systems, and working independently with business and technical teams.
- General understanding of systems, integrations, databases, reporting, and software delivery. Coding is not required.
Strong pluses
- Healthcare experience, particularly in finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable or revenue cycle management, clinical reporting, census, payroll, staffing, or multi-facility operations.
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, reporting, analytics, workflow automation, or AI-enabled tools.
- Experience coordinating external vendors or consultants on software and technology projects.
What we are looking for
We want someone who does not stop at surface-level answers. This person should enjoy digging into how processes, systems, and data actually work, identifying root causes, and clearly explaining the reasoning behind their conclusions. They should build trust, take ownership, follow through with minimal oversight, and be dependable when deadlines or problems require extra effort.
