Job description
The Associate, Donor Relations plays a critical role in strengthening AIPAC’s relationships with current supporters, increasing investment in AIPAC’s work, and delivering an exceptional donor experience. This position combines relationship management, fundraising, and donor service in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
The Associate will engage and retain current members, communicate the value and urgency of supporting a strong U.S.–Israel relationship, and encourage eligible donors to deepen their commitment through enhanced membership and increased annual giving.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional who is passionate about Israel, American politics, and donor engagement. Associates receive advanced training, exposure to Middle East policy, competitive compensation, and a generous benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with existing Members to reinforce both the urgency and impact of their support.
Solicit Club Members to increase their annual giving.
Manage donor transactions and provide services including processing gifts, handling credit card declines, setting up sustainer plans, and responding to donor inquiries.
Key Expectations
Meet or exceed daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual fundraising, donor-contact, and retention goals.
Monitor the Club Membership phone line and call-center activity, ensuring donor inquiries and requests are addressed accurately, professionally, and promptly.
Contact donors whose credit cards have declined, obtain updated payment information, and resolve billing issues with discretion and urgency.
Follow up with members who have outstanding balances to secure payment or discuss conversion to an enhanced membership.
Monitor recurring giving and billing plans, proactively identify payment issues, and collect updated credit card information from members.
Communicate AIPAC’s mission, policy priorities, and impact through phone calls, Zoom meetings, email, text messages, and other donor outreach.
Collaborate with Direct Marketing and Digital Fundraising teams to ensure members are appropriately engaged, retained, and strategically cultivated for upgrades.
Maintain complete, accurate, and timely donor records in Salesforce and Outreach.io, including outreach activity, donor interactions, payment updates, and meeting documentation.
Provide responsive, donor-centered service across inbound and outbound communications.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
One or more years of experience in a customer-facing, relationship-management, fundraising, sales, customer-success, account-management, or similar role.
Intense passion for a strong U.S.-Israel relationship and knowledge of issues related to Israel, the Middle East, and American politics.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with a broad range of donors.
Strong customer-service orientation, sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when handling donor questions, concerns, and financial information.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage a large portfolio, accurately document activity, and prioritize competing responsibilities.
Comfortable working toward ambitious fundraising and activity goals in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment.
Resilient, goal-oriented, and comfortable navigating objections, rejection, and follow-up conversations.
Self-motivated and accountable, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.
Proficiency with CRM and sales-engagement platforms, including Salesforce and Outreach.io, or the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Experience in politics, fundraising, call-center operations, high-volume phone engagement, or a similar environment is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
