Preschool Paraprofessional Position Overview

A preschool in Brooklyn is seeking two dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessionals / ABA Support Staff to work with children ages 3–6 on the autism spectrum.

The position involves supporting children in a structured classroom environment while working closely with teachers, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), and other educational professionals.

The ideal candidate is patient, energetic, dependable, and comfortable following guidance from supervising teachers and clinical professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized classroom support to children ages 3–6 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

• Assist children with classroom activities, daily routines, and transitions.

• Support the development of communication, social, behavioral, and independent living skills.

• Implement individualized educational and behavioral strategies under the direction of teachers and BCBAs.

• Encourage positive interactions and participation in classroom activities.

• Assist with structured learning activities, play, and skill development.

• Follow established behavior support plans and classroom procedures.

• Collaborate closely with teachers, BCBAs, and other staff members.

• Maintain a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.

• Communicate observations and student progress to supervising professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with autism or developmental disabilities preferred.

• Familiarity with ABA principles is a plus.

• Patient, compassionate, energetic, and dependable.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to follow instructions and accept constructive feedback from supervisors.

• Comfortable working collaboratively with teachers and BCBAs.

• Strong interest in early childhood education and special education.

• Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
