VP of Construction

Location: New York City, NY
Schedule: Full-Time | On-Site
Salary: $250,000+ DOE + Bonus

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced VP of Construction / Senior Construction Executive to take full ownership of major ground-up multifamily construction projects in NYC from pre-construction through final completion.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has successfully built large, complex multifamily projects in New York City and understands the entire construction process. The right candidate must be capable of running the project from the ground up — coordinating the field, subcontractors, consultants, architects, engineers, budgets, schedules, inspections, quality control, and everything in between.

This is not a position for someone who only oversees one portion of the construction process. We are looking for someone who knows how to build the entire project and can take full responsibility for getting it completed successfully.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of ground-up multifamily projects from pre-construction through completion and turnover.
• Lead and manage all construction operations on major NYC projects.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, manpower plans, and construction strategies.
• Oversee superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors.
• Coordinate all trades and ensure work is progressing correctly and according to schedule.
• Manage the construction process from excavation and foundations through structure, MEP, finishes, inspections, and final completion.
• Review plans, drawings, specifications, and scopes to identify conflicts and resolve issues before they impact the project.
• Maintain strict control over project costs, change orders, and overall budget.
• Work closely with ownership, architects, engineers, consultants, and municipal agencies.
• Ensure projects meet NYC building requirements, safety standards, quality expectations, and scheduled milestones.
• Identify potential construction issues early and take ownership of solving them.
• Drive accountability across the entire project team and subcontractor base.
• Ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the expected quality standard.
• Oversee punch list, closeout, inspections, turnover, and final completion.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience managing ground-up multifamily construction projects in NYC.
• Must have a proven track record successfully taking major projects from pre-construction through completion.
• Deep understanding of the full ground-up construction process, including excavation, foundations, structure, envelope, MEP, interiors, finishes, and closeout.
• Strong knowledge of NYC construction practices, codes, inspections, and permitting.
• Significant experience managing large subcontractor teams and complex construction schedules.
• Strong understanding of construction budgets, contracts, change orders, and project controls.
• Proven ability to manage multiple aspects of a major project simultaneously.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be highly hands-on, accountable, and capable of making critical decisions in the field.
• Major NYC multifamily ground-up experience is required.
