Job description

Director of HR & People Experience

Brooklyn, NY – On-Site
$150,000 Base Salary
Bilingual English & Spanish Preferred

Position Overview

A fast-growing, multi-site facility services organization is seeking a hands-on people leader to build a high-performing frontline workforce and create a culture of excellence across the organization.

This role is responsible for shaping the employee experience from the moment someone joins the company through their long-term growth and success. The ideal candidate understands that exceptional service starts with exceptional people and knows how to create the training, standards, and culture needed for employees to consistently deliver a high-quality client experience across every site.

This is not a traditional HR administration role. This is an opportunity for someone who can build structure where it does not yet exist, develop meaningful training programs, improve hiring standards, coach leaders, and create an environment where professionalism, accountability, and service excellence become part of the company’s identity.

The right person is a hands-on, independent leader who can own the full employee lifecycle across 450+ employees and multiple locations, while partnering with leadership to continuously improve the way the organization attracts, develops, and retains talent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a comprehensive employee experience strategy focused on professionalism, service excellence, engagement, and retention.
  • Design and implement onboarding programs that prepare every new hire to understand company expectations, culture, and service standards from day one.
  • Create ongoing training and development programs that reinforce communication, professionalism, accountability, and the quality standards expected across every client site.
  • Develop manager and supervisor training programs to ensure leaders are equipped to coach employees, maintain standards, and build strong teams.
  • Establish hiring standards and improve recruitment processes to identify employees who align with the company’s culture and service expectations.
  • Own full-cycle recruitment and workforce planning, building a pipeline of high-quality talent as the organization continues to grow.
  • Drive employee engagement, recognition, morale, and retention initiatives that strengthen company culture.
  • Partner with leadership and site managers to improve workforce performance and employee development.
  • Manage employee relations, coaching, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies, employee handbook, and scalable people processes that support organizational growth.
  • Partner with Accounting to oversee payroll accuracy, timekeeping, overtime monitoring, and payroll audits.
  • Oversee benefits administration, PTO/leave management, and open enrollment.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including union and prevailing wage requirements.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR, people leadership, training, or employee experience experience in a multi-site organization.
  • Proven experience building onboarding, training, and development programs that improve employee performance and consistency.
  • Strong background in employee engagement, coaching, culture-building, and organizational development.
  • Experience leading recruiting and hiring processes with a focus on identifying high-quality, service-oriented talent.
  • Background in hospitality, luxury service, facilities, property management, staffing, construction, home care, or another labor-intensive, service-driven environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience creating standards and training teams to consistently deliver an exceptional customer or client experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, HRIS, and payroll systems.
  • Proven ability to build structure, improve processes, and operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
  • Bilingual English & Spanish preferred.

Why Apply?

  • Opportunity to build and shape the employee experience for a rapidly growing organization.
  • Play a key role in creating the culture, training standards, and people systems that support long-term growth.
  • Significant opportunity to make a lasting impact across the organization.
