Job description
A mission-driven nonprofit organization serving Jewish communities and professionals across college campuses worldwide is seeking a Director of Digital Technology to lead and elevate its entire digital technology strategy. This is a leadership and strategy role, not a hands-on engineering position. You do not need to be a developer or write code. Instead, we’re looking for a forward-thinking technology leader who understands what is possible, can identify opportunities for innovation, and can lead talented teams and technology partners toward a clear vision. You will own the organization’s digital ecosystem, serve as the primary voice of the user, oversee a portfolio of digital products and platforms, and turn high-level organizational goals into an actionable technology roadmap.
What You’ll Own:
Digital Products & Platforms: Oversee a portfolio of SaaS products and digital platforms, including mobile applications, CRM systems, fundraising platforms, event registration tools, websites, and internal portals.
Organization-Wide Technology: Ensure teams across the organization have the technology, systems, and support they need to operate effectively.
Technology Team: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of technology and product specialists while maximizing the impact of technical talent.
External Partners: Manage outside developers, technology companies, and vendors, including roadmaps, priorities, timelines, quality, and accountability.
Innovation & AI: Identify emerging technologies and opportunities to responsibly incorporate AI and other innovative tools.
Customer/User Experience: Serve as the primary advocate for the organization’s users and ensure technology decisions are grounded in their actual needs.
Technology Strategy: Establish a clear long-term vision and roadmap for the organization’s digital ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
Translate organizational goals and vision into a clear, actionable technology strategy.
Own the execution of the digital roadmap from planning through implementation and ongoing improvement.
Develop a deep understanding of users and continuously gather feedback to improve products and services.
Drive adoption by effectively communicating and demonstrating the value of technology to users and stakeholders.
Establish priorities across products and projects based on impact, urgency, and organizational value.
Manage and hold internal teams and external technology partners accountable for deliverables and results.
Identify recurring issues and strategic opportunities and communicate them effectively to senior leadership.
Stay ahead of technology, AI, and digital product trends and provide a forward-thinking perspective on where the organization should go next.
Oversee the technology budget and evaluate the impact and return on technology investments.
Represent the organization’s digital strategy and vision to partners, funders, and other key stakeholders.
Ensure digital products are delivered effectively, maintained properly, and continuously improved.
Qualifications:
Experience leading digital products, technology initiatives, product management, or technology strategy.
Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to oversee complex technology initiatives without needing to be the person building the technology.
Ability to lead engineers, designers, product professionals, and external vendors while earning their trust and respect.
Strong understanding of digital products, SaaS platforms, and technology ecosystems.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technology clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strong customer-facing, sales, partnership, or business development experience is highly valued.
Proven ability to listen to users, understand their needs, and translate those needs into product and technology priorities.
Experience managing and developing teams.
Strong strategic thinking and the ability to identify patterns, root causes, and long-term opportunities rather than simply solving immediate problems.
Comfortable evaluating technical tradeoffs and making informed decisions without being a hands-on developer.
Strong interest in emerging technology and AI.
Passion for working in a mission-driven environment.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a technology visionary who can also execute. You should be someone who gets excited about what technology can make possible, but who can also turn that vision into a practical roadmap and make sure it actually happens. You don’t need to be the person writing the code. You need to be the person who can lead the people writing it, understand the users who will use it, communicate its value, manage the partners building it, and ensure the organization gets meaningful results from its technology investments. A strong background in product management, technology leadership, SaaS, digital products, sales/partnerships, or customer-facing technology roles would be highly relevant. This is an opportunity for an experienced technology leader to have significant ownership and impact within a growing, mission-driven organization.
