About the Role
Play an important role on an exciting and rapidly growing new division with the world’s largest tax preparation. As a representative of H&R Block U.S. Expat Tax Services, you are responsible for supporting tax advisors and senior tax staff providing U.S. tax services to U.S. citizens and residents living outside the United States.
Day to day you'll...
Analyze tax information provided by expatriate tax clients for the purpose of preparing
complete and accurate tax returns to be reviewed by senior staff
Develop and harness expertise in U.S. tax issues relevant to expat clients, including
income tax treaties , foreign tax credit, foreign earned income and housing exclusions,
self-employment overseas, international social security coverage, foreign bank account
reporting, foreign account tax compliance act (FATCA), passive foreign investment
company taxation, income sourcing rules, state tax residency status, IRS Offshore
Voluntary Disclosure Program, IRS Streamlined Compliance Program, taxation of foreign
retirement arrangements, foreign trust taxation, foreign rental activities, ownership of
foreign limited entities, and relinquishment of U.S. citizenship or green card status
Leverage internal resources to research unclear tax issues presented by clients
Remain current with company policies and procedures related to tax preparation and
offering other financial products
Attend training required for the position. Develop high-level knowledge of foreign tax
and financial systems in devoted country/countries in order to enhance client
experience. Read other business and tax publications, as recommended by
management
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in accounting or 2+ years of tax preparation or similar tax experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate tax and financial advice clearly and effectively with the public in a variety of situations including but not limited to phone, email and video conference calls with expat clients
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working with expatriate tax clients
Circular 230 credential (e.g. EA, CPA, JD)
Foreign language capabilities.
