The Group Compliance Function’s aim is to proactively support Willis Towers Watson to generate sustainable value, helping the company to deliver good client outcomes, manage its conduct, protect against regulatory risk, and maintain strong regulatory relationships. We aim to be a trusted partner to the business. Within Willis Towers Watson’s internal control system, we form part of the Second Line of Defense, as a function independent from daily business activities.
We lead the management and coordination of Willis Towers Watson Group Compliance policies and procedures, identifying applicable regulatory requirements and assisting in implementing relevant processes to enable standards to be met. We also provide guidance and training. We monitor compliance with regulatory obligations and implemented controls within the Compliance Program. The Compliance team leads the management and coordination of the requirements of our global regulators
The Role
• Work closely with North America and Global Compliance Officers and Regional and Business Management to Identify and assess compliance and regulatory risks in the business taking into consideration relevant internal and external sources of data as well as changes to assessments of other risk types.
• Partner with the business to support and provide pragmatic risk-based advice and counsel to all appropriate stakeholders as well as provide effective challenge and oversight to Business Unit Management, Operations and Business Unit Compliance Officers regarding applicable laws and regulations as well as internal policies and procedures designed to mitigate business risk and exposure.
• Train staff and implement policies and procedures tailored to a variety of businesses.
• Review, investigate, and escalate actual or potential compliance issues, policy violations, and regulatory concerns, and oversee the development and implementation of appropriate corrective actions.
• Provide oversight and guidance regarding WTW Financial Crime policies.
• Collaborate with the Centralized Compliance Monitoring Team to review monitoring results and drive appropriate remediation activities.
• Collaborate with Excellence in the monitoring and adherence to Excellence standards through the collection and analysis of errors and omissions data, and business-led self-assessment file reviews.
• Analyze compliance monitoring results, regulatory findings, complaints, incidents, and other risk indicators to identify emerging compliance risks and drive appropriate remediation activities.
• Partnership with WTW Internal Audit to identify potential enterprise risks and design and implement necessary corrective actions.
• Foster close relationships with other corporate functions including Legal, Risk and Internal Audit.
• Enable businesses to continue to meet changing regulatory requirements, by partnering on enhanced horizon scanning efforts, gap analysis reviews and process change execution.
• Lead or support implementation of regulatory changes, including translating regulatory requirements into practical business processes, controls, and governance frameworks.
• Partner with business to establish and implement comprehensive and integrated Compliance Plans on an annual basis.
• Participate in and support governance committees, working groups, and compliance forums to ensure appropriate oversight of compliance risks and process/control implementation.
Qualifications
• 5-10 years of compliance, legal, audit, risk management, or regulatory experience.
• Insurance industry experience is desirable, but not required if candidate has prior legal, audit, and/or compliance experience.
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels to promote an effective and business focused compliance culture.
• Ability to work, both individually and as a team, under pressure to tight timelines and without direct supervision.
• Commercial awareness, a commercial and pragmatic approach to managing compliance risks.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining excellent understanding of regulatory developments.
• Must be committed to maintaining a robust compliance culture and high ethical standards.
• Excellent analytical problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to develop and present training material clearly and effectively.
• Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders while maintaining strong business relationships.
• Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience utilizing AI-enabled tools, compliance technology solutions, and data analytics platforms.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Knowledge of specialty insurance industry desired.
