Job Description
JOB OBJECTIVE: The Market Development Intern, Academia & Government (A/G), supports the A/G Strategic Marketing team in expanding Promega's presence across the academic and government research sectors. Reporting to the Market Development Manager, A/G, the intern contributes to both strategic projects and executional work, including market and competitive research, customer segmentation, content creation, campaign and event support, and the development of sales enablement tools. The role is structured to give the intern practical experience in global life science marketing while producing deliverables that directly support the SBU's growth objectives and Promega's mission of driving scientific discovery.
CORE DUTIES:
1. Assist in developing customer personas and academic/government market segmentation to inform targeted campaigns, working under the direction of the Market Development Manager.
2. Support competitive landscape and funding research by identifying key players, federal and institutional funding trends, and partnership opportunities in the Academic & Government market, and organizing findings into usable summaries for the team.
3. Contribute to the creation of marketing content, including social media posts, blog entries, presentations, email campaigns, and event collateral.
4. Collaborate with the Market Development Manager and Sr. Strategic Marketing Manager to develop and refine training materials, playbooks, and sales enablement tools.
5. Help analyze marketing metrics, campaign performance, and customer engagement data, and provide recommendations for optimization.
6. Contribute to the coordination and promotion of tradeshows, conferences, and academic outreach events, including logistics support, materials preparation, and post-event follow-up.
7. Support maintenance of contact, Key Opinion Leader, and institutional records in CRM, helping ensure accuracy and completeness of segment data.
8. Work cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Branch Marketing, and Sales teams to support alignment of global and regional campaigns and ensure brand consistency across deliverables in partnership with Marketing Services.
9. Complete an assigned intern project and present findings and recommendations to SBU leadership at the conclusion of the internship.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Life Sciences, or a related field.
2. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market trends and funding data.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in scientific and marketing contexts.
4. Experience with Microsoft Office, with familiarity in Adobe Creative Suite and social media management platforms.
5. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
6. Collaborative, curious, and self-motivated, comfortable asking questions and working with colleagues across functions, cultures, and time zones.
7. Demonstrated proficiency in digital tools and technology, including Microsoft applications and mobile platforms, with the ability to adapt and leverage emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to improve efficiency, automation, and collaboration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Prior internship or coursework experience in market analysis, content creation, or campaign management.
2. Interest in the life sciences industry, with familiarity in academic/government research, biotech, or diagnostics markets.
3. Experience with AI tools, marketing analytics platforms, or CRM systems.
4. Hands-on laboratory experience in an academic or government research setting, or additional language skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to remain stationary for several hours at a time.
2. Ability to use telephone and computer equipment, including Microsoft Office applications.
3. Ability to move objects up to 20 pounds and transport items between buildings.
4. Ability to travel.
