Job description
This is an opportunity for a pharmacy leader who likes to build, improve, and influence. Clarest is continuing to bring businesses and pharmacy operations together, which means you'll have the opportunity to help shape how a growing organization operates rather than simply stepping into an established playbook.
What You’ll Do
You'll help create greater consistency, visibility, and performance across Clarest's pharmacy operations.
Build and continuously improve the pharmacy operating system, including management routines, operating standards, tools, and performance cadences.
Develop, standardize, and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, workflows, and other forms of standard work.
Partner with Regional VPs and pharmacy leaders to identify operational gaps and translate them into practical solutions.
Lead operational performance and productivity reviews, using data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
Translate regulatory and compliance requirements into practical operating processes that can be consistently executed in the field.
Develop tools, assessments, scorecards, and other resources that help leaders evaluate pharmacy performance against established standards.
Support the deployment of new programs, workflows, technology, automation, and other operational initiatives across the pharmacy network.
Partner with the Director of Implementation on pharmacy builds, updates, assessments, and operational readiness.
Identify opportunities to reduce variation across pharmacies while maintaining quality, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and service standards.
Work closely with pharmacy technology and systems partners to improve workflows and enable more efficient operations.
Partner cross-functionally with Compliance, Account Management, Implementation, Technology, and other teams to operationalize business initiatives.
Lead complex projects and cross-functional workgroups, driving initiatives from concept through implementation and sustained adoption.
Serve as a resource and thought partner to pharmacy and field leadership, bringing structure and solutions to complex operational challenges.
Travel to Clarest pharmacy and business locations to assess operations, support implementation, and work directly with field leadership.
Identify opportunities to improve the way Clarest operates and take ownership of moving those opportunities forward.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD.
Active, unrestricted Pharmacist (RPh) license in good standing.
7–10+ years of progressive pharmacy operations experience.
Experience working in a complex pharmacy environment such as long-term care, institutional, specialty, mail order, closed-door, or similarly operationally complex settings.
Experience working across multiple pharmacy locations, sites, or geographically dispersed operations.
Demonstrated experience building or standardizing operating processes, SOPs, workflows, or management routines.
Experience translating regulatory, compliance, or quality requirements into practical operational processes.
Experience partnering with senior pharmacy, operational, or regional leadership.
Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change without relying on direct authority.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to identify root causes and drive operational decisions.
Experience leading complex initiatives, process improvements, implementations, or organizational change.
Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% to pharmacy and business locations.
Bonus Points If You Have
Deep experience in long-term care pharmacy or other institutional pharmacy environments.
Experience integrating or standardizing operations across multiple pharmacy organizations or acquired businesses.
Experience with pharmacy automation, dispensing technology, order entry, fulfillment, packaging, distribution, or pharmacy systems.
Experience with Medicare Part D, Medicaid, third-party billing, or other pharmacy reimbursement processes.
Experience with workforce planning, productivity, capacity management, or operational performance improvement.
Experience developing operational scorecards, assessments, standards, or management systems.
Experience with Lean, continuous improvement, or similar process improvement methodologies.
Experience supporting new pharmacy builds, implementations, acquisitions, or operational integrations.
You’ll Be Successful If You Have
A builder's mindset: You enjoy creating structure where it doesn't exist and turning ideas into practical, scalable ways of working.
Strong pharmacy operations expertise: You understand how pharmacy operations work and can connect strategy to what actually happens on the floor.
Influence without authority: You can build credibility with Regional VPs, pharmacy leaders, compliance partners, vendors, and cross-functional teams and move work forward without needing direct reporting relationships.
A bias for action: You're a go-getter who sees an opportunity, digs into the problem, and takes ownership of finding a solution.
Strategic and practical thinking: You can step back to understand the broader business while also getting into the details needed to make an operational change work.
Strong change leadership: You're comfortable operating in an environment where priorities evolve, processes are still being built, and not every answer is already defined.
Data-driven judgment: You use data, operational observations, and root-cause analysis to understand what is really happening and determine what needs to change.
Strong communication and partnership: You can work effectively with executives, field leaders, pharmacy teams, and cross-functional partners and bring people along through change.
Comfort with ambiguity: You don't need a perfectly defined playbook. You see the opportunity in helping create one.
Physical Requirements
Remote/Travel Role:
Ability to remain seated and perform computer-based work for extended periods.
Ability to communicate clearly by phone and in virtual meetings.
Ability to travel approximately 50% to pharmacy and business locations.
Ability to walk through and assess pharmacy environments and operational work areas.
Ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move up to 25 pounds.
