The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join a growing U.S. corporate communications practice in a global, high growth company. The ideal candidate will be strategic and forward-thinking, able to execute flawlessly, excited about engaging with the media on a proactive and reactive basis, client-obsessed and detail-oriented, and an entrepreneurial self-starter.

Key Responsibilities

Lead client accounts on a day-to-day basis, effectively managing priorities across multiple engagements and competing deadlines
Advise clients on major financial events and business announcements, crisis and issues management, and corporate and executive positioning
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with reporters, editors, producers, and influencers across top-tier, financial, trade, industry, social/digital, and broadcast media outlets
Develop holistic proactive communications strategies across paid, owned, and earned media including identifying, developing, and pitching compelling story angles that align with client business objectives and broader news cycles
Understand and stay on top of the evolving media landscape
Draft internal and external communications for various corporate and financial announcements
Monitor financial markets, business news, industry trends, and breaking developments to identify timely opportunities and potential risks for clients
Manage workflow across an evolving and growing team, delegating responsibilities appropriately and mentoring junior team members
Expand existing client relationships by identifying new opportunities to deliver value and deepen engagement
Contribute to new business development through participation in pitches, proposal development, networking, and lead generation
Partner with colleagues across the business to introduce and leverage the firm's broader capabilities on behalf of clients

Qualifications

5+ years’ experience of working in Corporate Communications, public relations, media relations, or financial communications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree viewed favorably
Strong understanding of financial, business, and market-related issues
Proven experience developing and executing successful media relations programs that generate earned media coverage
Experienced account manager, adept at maintaining client service while juggling multiple demands
Creative, ambitious, and confident dealing with client relationships and issues at all levels
An effective team player with a collaborative and pragmatic approach to working
Team player, keen to take an active role in guiding and bringing on junior team members
Ability to work outside typical business hours to accommodate meetings with global team members across multiple time zones.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
