Position Summary: The Office of Student Enrollment (OSE) manages admissions, enrollment, and transfers for students in 3-K through grade 12 in districts 1-32 and 75 (not including charters). Additionally, the office oversees Family Welcome Centers (FWCs), which are family-facing offices that conduct enrollment and childcare eligibility transactions. OSE supports the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) core mission by designing and implementing enrollment and admissions policies and processes that provide all students with access to high-quality public schools.
The Assistant Director of Enrollment will be responsible for supporting the Director of Enrollment in the supervision of one (1) or more Family Welcome Centers (FWCs) to ensure that all enrollment-related issues are addressed in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations of the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS). Areas of responsibility include registration, enrollment and transfers for early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school support for admissions processes. The Assistant Director of Enrollment collaborates with the Director of Enrollment and central OSE staff on the development and implementation of policy directives, the analysis and interpretation of relevant data, and the implementation of procedural initiatives that support the Department’s student enrollment programs. The Assistant Director of Enrollment will also be responsible for organizing participation in and ensuring field logistical support for workshops, fairs, virtual admissions inquiries, and parent meetings sponsored by OSE to support admissions processes. Performs related work.

Key Relationships: Serves as the primary office contact for the Director of Enrollment for all matters pertaining to general education students and students with disabilities. Also serves as the primary contact for parents, community-based organizations, school support staff, principals, and other school personnel on enrollment-related policy and process issues.
Responsibilities
Assists with the management of at least one FWC with the capacity to coach and lead staff, respond to related parent and community concerns within the prescribed guidelines of the NYCPS.
Collaborates with Director and central OSE staff to plan and manage at least one Back-to-School (BTS) site during peak registration times.
Directs principals in adhering to departmental enrollment and admissions policies and practices.
Knowledge of and ensures compliance of Chancellor’s Regulation A-101, which is the policy that guides the decision making of OSE.
Assists with monitoring enrollment trends and facilities issues in the applicable borough; provides feedback to the Director of Enrollment in order to support central enrollment planning and portfolio decisions. Participates in the review of enrollment projections for all schools in the relevant geographic area.
Represents OSE, the FWC and the Director of Enrollment when necessary.
Works collaboratively with FWCs to ensure the consistent and effective application of best educational and operational practices, developing key relationships to ensure the smooth flow of information and effective work processes.
Monitors the day-to-day operations of the FWCs.
Works with personnel in family engagement, youth development, school safety, schools, school support, early childhood education, District 75 (Special Education), and District 79 (Alternative Schools) with the intention to deliver efficient approaches to student enrollment programs and advance OSE initiatives.
Facilitates the implementation of High School, Middle School, Kindergarten, Pre-Kindergarten, 3-K, Admissions and assists parents and school personnel to ensure effective administration of these processes.
Participates in and ensures staffing for school fairs, parent workshops, and other enrollment-related events.
Assists with the implementation of the “over-the-counter” enrollment process for all grades for both general education students and students with disabilities. This entails the design and execution of a comprehensive enrollment and placement process for a large number of students who have not gone through the regular admissions processes.
Ensures that systemic safeguards are in place to guarantee that over-the-counter registrations and admissions are equitable and consistent.
Ensures compliance with all federal, state and City laws, regulations and policies governing student enrollment.
Prepares and delivers presentations to staff and external groups.
Qualification Requirements:
Minimum
Applicants must possess a valid New York State certificate in School Administration/Supervision (SAS), School District Administrator (SDA), School Building Leadership (SBL), or the Administrator Certificate. We do not accept internship certificates.
Preferred
Successful experience in managing a complex, multi-faceted organization.
Excellent ability to provide services in the context of a program that is borough- and city-wide in scope.
Superior ability to prepare written documents and to make presentations clearly and concisely.
Familiarity with ATS, MySchools, Service Cloud/ORACLE, STARS, SESIS and OORS
Strong knowledge of technology including high level of proficiency in Microsoft and Google suite of products and software.
Knowledge of compliance and regulatory issues for the placement and enrollment of students with disabilities.
Knowledge of instructional methodologies and the Continuum of Services for students with disabilities.
Understanding of funding, resource provision, and programming for students with disabilities.
