The SCHECHTER SCHOOL of LONG ISLAND is a conservative Jewish Day School in Nassau County, New York, known for small classes, a rigorous academic program, including Regents and AP classes, and a warm nurturing environment.
We are seeking Leave replacement for our Spanish Department starting immediately and for the 2026-27 academic year. We are looking for either one full-time teacher or two part-time teachers.
Candidates will be team-oriented and should:
Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; a teaching credential from an accredited institution. Be experienced in teaching Spanish Language, specifically, Spanish 1, 2, and 3.
The FLACS exam is administered to the 10th graders in level 3.
Demonstrate good classroom management skills.
Be committed to meaningful collaboration with supportive and congenial colleagues.
Demonstrate strong communication skills and commitment to keeping parents informed.
Duties and responsibilities:
As a Spanish Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire students to engage deeply with the Spanish Language while fostering critical thinking and a love for learning. Spanish is our students' second foreign language! The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about creating an engaging and meaningful learning environment and in shaping the intellectual development of their students.
Teach grade-level Spanish content and Hispanic culture centered around small classrooms for students grades 6 through 10.
