Job description

Position: Vice President of Advancement Operations

Department: Advancement

Reports to: Chief of Advancement

Principal Responsibilities

About the Role

JCC Association of North America is seeking a Vice President of Advancement Operations to serve as the operational engine behind our national Advancement function. This role partners closely with department heads and Finance to keep complex, multi-year grants on track — monitoring programmatic goals and outcome metrics and supporting the staff teams responsible for delivering them; oversees gift processing and database integrity; supports team management in our New York office; and builds the systems, including online giving that will power JCC Association's next generation of fundraising.

This role will provide the operational infrastructure and measurement discipline that keeps a complex, multi-funder grants portfolio on track — clear goals and metrics, well-supported program teams, and timely, high-quality reporting to funders.

This is a senior operational leadership role for someone who thinks in systems and wants to build lasting infrastructure for a continental Jewish organization.

What You’ll Do

Grants Oversight

Partner with department heads to ensure complex, multi-year, multi-funder grants deliver on the programmatic goals each was funded to achieve, working with Finance on budget questions as they arise.
Oversee the operational side of the grant’s lifecycle and progress against committed deliverables — in partnership with the staff who write and manage individual grant relationships.
Build and maintain tracking systems that monitor grant-funded programmatic goals and outcome metrics, giving program and Advancement leadership a clear, current view of where each grant stands.
Support program and department staff teams in meeting grant requirements — helping them set measurable goals, gather the right data, and prepare funder reports, and serving as the connective tissue to Finance when budget or restricted-fund questions arise.

Gift Processing and Database Management

Oversee gift processing operations from ensuring gifts are entered, acknowledged, and receipted accurately and on time, in coordination with Finance.
Maintain the integrity of the donor CRM/database so fundraisers can rely on it, including data governance standards and user protocols.
Build and manage the stewardship and donor recognition workflows the fundraising team relies on, including timely acknowledgments, gift agreements, impact updates, and recognition programs.
Produce accurate, timely fundraising reports and dashboards for organizational leadership and the Board, including pipeline and portfolio reporting that helps gift officers prioritize and track their prospects.
Support prospect research and management, working with fundraisers to identify and qualify prospects and keep portfolios and pipelines current in the CRM.

Team Management

Supervise advancement operations staff based in the NYC office, providing coaching, workflow oversight, and professional development.
Foster a collaborative, accountable culture across the Advancement team's operational functions.

Systems and Fundraising Infrastructure

Evaluate, select, and implement systems that support future fundraising strategies, including online giving platforms, peer-to-peer campaigns, and other digital fundraising tools.
Partner with IT and Finance to integrate CRM, online giving, and payment-processing systems into a cohesive fundraising technology stack.
Stay current on sector trends and recommend new tools or processes that increase efficiency and giving capacity.

Cross-Organizational and Field Partnership

Represent Advancement Operations in cross-departmental planning across the JCC Movement.
Connect with development professionals at JCCs across the JCC Movement, convening peers to share best practices in advancement operations, gift processing, data integrity, and fundraising technology, and bringing what is working in the field back into JCC Association's own practice.

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $140,000–$165,000, commensurate with experience

JCC Association offers a competitive benefits package, including:

Medical and dental insurance
Eight paid legal holidays and up to 13 paid Jewish holidays (with early office closures on select eves)
Paid vacation
Sick, family, medical, jury duty, and bereavement leave
Flexible benefit plan
Pre-tax salary deductions for transit
Short- and long-term disability
Life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance
Retirement plan

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in advancement operations or fundraising, including direct experience supporting multi-year, multi-funder grants — ideally at a national or continental organization.

Demonstrated experience supporting grant-funded programs and partnering with Finance on gift processing and reconciliation.
Deep working knowledge of donor CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge) and online giving platforms.
Prior experience managing or supervising a team, with the ability to coach and develop staff.
Strong analytical and systems-oriented mindset, with comfort evaluating and implementing new fundraising technology.
Excellent cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to work fluently with program leadership, fundraisers, Finance, and IT.
Experience in the Jewish communal sector or another national/continental nonprofit is a plus, though not required.
