Job description

JCC Greater Boston is looking for enthusiastic Activity Instructors to lead engaging, hands-on activities for children in grades K-5 at its School Break Camps in Newton. Instructors are role models who bring a specialty area to life, whether that's teaching soccer skills, leading an improv game, running a slime experiment, or guiding a cooking project, while keeping activities safe, inclusive, and fun. Example specialty areas include sports, art, drama, music, science, 3D printing, and video/film/media, or propose your own. **Camp Dates:** • Veterans Day: November 11 • December Break: December 28-31 • MLK Day: January 18 • February Break: February 15-19 • April & Passover Break: April 19, 20, and 26-30 Candidates do not need to commit to all dates. Staff are scheduled by the day, in 8-hour shifts between 7:45am and 6pm. Responsibilities: • Plan, prepare, and lead age-appropriate activities in your specialty area • Ensure camper safety and adapt activities to the needs and abilities of diverse campers • Maintain, organize, and request supplies and equipment • Partner with counselors and camp leadership, support camp-wide special events, and help with transitions, drop-off/pick-up, and lunch Qualifications: • 1+ season of experience planning and leading activities for children (summer camp, semester, or similar) • College coursework, certification, or equivalent experience in your specialty area preferred • Strong group management, communication, and teamwork skills • Able to swim and supervise children in the pool (able to stand in the pool), work in varied weather, and lift 30-40 lbs **Pay:** $18 per hour, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
