Certified Medical Assistant - SATS

Job Summary
The Medical Assistant performs routine delegated clinical patient care duties in the health system medical practice to assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the office runs smoothly. Responsibilities include updating and filing patient medical records using electronic and paper systems, scheduling appointments, arranging laboratory services, and performing administrative duties as directed. Clinical tasks include obtaining and recording physical measurements, documenting medical history data, vital signs, and pain screens, assisting physicians during examinations and procedures, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, performing basic laboratory tests, cleaning and sterilizing medical instruments, preparing and administering medications, and performing electrocardiograms. The Medical Assistant is expected to demonstrate commitment to patient safety, utilize infection prevention and control procedures, and perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician.

Required Qualifications

One (1) year of healthcare-related work experience.
Knowledge of exam, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
Ability to maintain quality control standards.
Ability to read, understand, and respond to detailed oral and written instructions.
Ability to react and communicate clearly, calmly, and effectively.
Working knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures applicable to work performed.
Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients.
Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene, and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting.
Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions.
Perform care according to age-specific competencies.
Daily clinic preparation process: registration, scheduling, charge posting, order entry.
Able to document and communicate pertinent information.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff.
Ability to work effectively in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a medical office setting.

Required Education

High school diploma or GED.

Required Certifications & Licensure

CPR Certification issued by AHA or Red Cross within ninety (90) days of placement into position.
Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC); OR Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); OR American Medical Technologist Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); OR National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA).
