ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Strategic Discovery & Insight
Lead discovery efforts to understand organizational goals, challenges, and opportunities.
Design and facilitate strategic inquiry with clients, users, and project stakeholders.
Synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings into clear problem statements.
Identify key drivers influencing organizational and facility decisions.
Translate client priorities into design principles and project success measures. Generate Strategic Insight
Synthesize qualitative and quantitative information into strategic insights that inform decision making.
Integrate data from multiple sources to develop a comprehensive understanding of current conditions.
Analyze organizational, operational, demographic, and spatial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Develop forecasting and scenario models to evaluate future needs.
Identify patterns, tradeoffs, and implications that shape project strategy.
Shape Project Strategy
Develop strategic frameworks that align facilities with organizational goals.
Identify project “big ideas,” guiding principles, and strategic directions.
Evaluate alternative scenarios through data-informed analysis.
Recommend implementation strategies that balance near-term priorities with long-term flexibility.
Translate strategic recommendations into planning guidance for design teams.
Develop compelling strategic narratives that connect evidence, organizational priorities, and design direction.
Communicate Through Data
Create clear visualizations that communicate complex information.
Develop interactive dashboards and decision-support tools.
Present findings to clients and project teams in accessible, compelling formats.
Facilitate workshops that help stakeholders understand tradeoffs and build alignment.
Support executive decision making through concise, evidence-based recommendations.
Enable Strategic Implementation
Develop strategic roadmaps and implementation plans.
Translate future space needs into phased facility strategies.
Recommend sequencing for renovations, relocations, additions, and consolidations.
Support long-range campus, workplace, and facility planning initiatives.
Establish adaptable planning frameworks that evolve with organizational needs.
Advance Firm Capability
Partner with practice leaders to integrate strategic inquiry into project delivery.
Support pursuits by developing compelling, evidence-based project strategies.
Contribute to development of methodologies, tools, and best practices.
Mentor project teams in data-informed planning approaches.
Identify opportunities to expand strategic services across markets.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Licensure
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, such as Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Planning, Business or Organizational Development, Social Sciences, or Data Analytics. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Professional certification in a relevant discipline (strategy, foresight, research methods, or change management) is preferred but not required.
Typical employees have a minimum of 7 years of post-graduation professional experience in design strategy, organizational or workplace strategy, research, or a related consulting field.
Technology Skills
Proficient in using technology and standard software tools and search engines.
Skilled in data synthesis and visualization, including dashboards and decision-support tools.
Comfortable using digital collaboration and facilitation tools such as Miro or Figma.
Comfortable using Revit and AutoCAD.
