JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Workstation Engineer provides insight and recommendations to inform long-term IT infrastructure planning, engineering, and architecture across multiple systems. This individual serves as the technical lead and must have expert proficiency in associated workstation infrastructure and systems. This role also supports Software Asset Management (SAM) activities by helping manage lifecycle controls, inventory accuracy, licensing compliance, license reclamation, reporting, and cost optimization for workstation and end-user software assets. The position partners with End-User Services leadership, IT Operations, Procurement, Finance, Security, App Admin, and enterprise architecture teams to establish technical direction and governance for workstation infrastructure and software solutions supporting the mission of TriNet.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities / % TIME
• Provide insight and recommendations to inform long-term IT infrastructure planning, engineering, and architecture across multiple systems by assessing the implications of IT strategies on infrastructure capabilities; partnering with IT business leaders, App Admin, and enterprise architects to review business drivers, and to define, understand, and communicate target strategies and roadmaps to IT leadership. 15%
• Provide on-site support of colleague technical needs. Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support by creating and/or resolving standard and escalated IT support cases. Assist with problem tickets, working towards root cause identification and remediation. 20%
• Work closely with technical teams in the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into technical requirements that support integrated and sustainable designs for designated infrastructure systems by leveraging partnerships with IT business analysts to understand business needs and functional specifications. 10%
• Build solutions that support the technical direction of infrastructure solutions within various computing environments by ensuring the delivery of technical solutions that meet business problems; guiding and driving physical architecture design for new initiatives; perform the development and validation of system design prototypes. 10%
• Perform systems integration testing (SIT), component integration testing (CIT), and user acceptance testing (UAT) for assigned systems by establishing test metrics; report testing issues to EUS leadership; provide post-testing results to EUS leadership for approval. 10%
• Consult End-User Services leadership providing input to capital and expense budgets for the development, enhancement, and/or maintenance of designated workstation technologies. 5%
• Mentor junior team members providing technical and procedural guidance in performance of their duties; supporting team career development. 10%
• Consult with the Tech Ops Center and other IT teams monitoring incident trends, identifying reoccurring issues needing escalation; serve as a technical support escalation point for End-User Services; troubleshoot complex or high impact system issues, determine root cause, and recommend action plans to address infrastructure system performance issues in consideration of organizational impact. 10%
• Support Software Asset Management duties for workstation and end-user software, including software lifecycle management, inventory and entitlement accuracy, license allocation and reclamation, audit readiness, renewal and true-up support, software request/approval workflow alignment, usage reporting, compliance risk identification, and cost optimization recommendations across on-premises, SaaS, cloud, VDI/AVD, and endpoint-managed software assets. 10%

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
Work Experience
Typically 8+ years Workstation engineering, endpoint management, Windows/Mac administration, infrastructure support, and related enterprise technology experience; experience with software lifecycle, software packaging/deployment, SAM/ITAM, license management, or software governance preferred.
