REPORTS TO: Executive Director
ANTICIPATED HIRE DATE: October 5, 2026
Temple Israel Center is a warm, inclusive, and fully egalitarian Conservative congregation, offering a wide variety of services and programs. Our goal is to be a place where individuals and families can flourish and grow, as Jews, as members of the larger community and our extended family in Israel.

Position Overview
The Communications & Graphic Design Manager is full time position responsible for developing and executing the synagogue’s communications across digital, print, email and social media platforms. This position plays a central role in telling the story of our congregation, promoting programs and events, engaging members and prospective members, and ensuring that all communications reflect the warmth, professionalism, and values of our synagogue.

In addition to communications and graphic design responsibilities, this position provides administrative and logistical support for synagogue programs to the Director of Engagement and Inclusion, Executive Director, and clergy, helping to ensure that programs and initiatives are well organized, effectively communicated, and successfully executed.

The ideal candidate is a highly creative, organized, detail-oriented communications professional who combines strong graphic design and editing skills with excellent project management and interpersonal abilities. The successful candidate will be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines consistently, collaborate effectively with clergy, professional staff, volunteers and lay leaders, vendors and community stakeholders and take initiative in identifying opportunities to strengthen the synagogue’s communications.

Key Responsibilities
Communications
Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that effectively communicates the synagogue’s mission, programs, events, services, and community life.
Write, edit and proofread a wide range of communications materials with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Examples of materials include: posters and flyers, brochures, invitations, signage, social media graphics, digital advertisements, quarterly newsletters, labels and other program materials.
Ensure that all written communications are clear, engaging, grammatically correct, consistent in tone, and appropriate for the intended audience.
Work collaboratively with clergy, professional staff, committees, and lay leaders to gather information and develop compelling content.
Create accurate, user-friendly registration forms for programs, classes, events and trips.
Ensure registration forms contain accurate program information, including dates, times, fees, deadlines, policies, and payment or logistical information.
Graphic Design & Print Production
Design and produce high-quality print and digital materials, including posters, flyers, brochures, invitations, program materials, registration forms, signage, labels, social media content, letters, emails, and quarterly newsletters.
Manage the communication process from concept through completion, including writing, proofreading, revisions, formatting, distribution, and coordination with printers and vendors.
Social Media
Develop and implement a thoughtful social media strategy designed to increase awareness, engagement and connection within and beyond the congregation.
Create compelling, visually engaging, and timely social media content.
Develop a regular social media calendar and ensure consistent posting.
Identify opportunities to highlight congregants, clergy, programs, events, accomplishments, and meaningful moments within the synagogue community.
Monitor engagement and use analytics to evaluate and improve social media effectiveness.
Website
Manage and maintain the synagogue’s website using WordPress and Elementor.
Regularly update website content and ensure it is accurate, current, visually appealing and easy to navigate.
Project & Deadline Management
Manage multiple communications and design projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and quality.
Establish priorities and timelines for projects and communicate clearly with stakeholders regarding deadlines and deliverables.
Anticipate upcoming communications needs rather than waiting to be asked.
Maintain organized systems for tracking projects, deadlines, approvals, and publication schedules.
Program Administration & Logistical Support

Provide administrative and logistical support for synagogue programs and initiatives for the Director of Membership Engagement and Inclusion, Executive Director, clergy and volunteers.
Assist with the logistics for congregational programs including room set-ups, ordering of food and supplies, liaise with outside organizations, support and manage volunteers.
