Type: Part-time, Temporary 6-month contract (with potential to renew)
Schedule: 20 hours a week; Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 10 am - 6 pm, Tuesday 11 am - 7 pm + occasional evening hours and weekends
Pay Type: $22 Hourly
Location: Fully onsite in the Lower East Side

Program Overview
Jobs Plus is a part of Henry Street Settlement’s Education and Employment Services, a $10M division providing a continuum of services from early childhood education through adult workforce designed to assist individuals in obtaining the skills necessary for lifetime self-sufficiency
Program Details
Jobs Plus is a place-based workforce development program helping NYCHA residents find viable employment and connect to other support services. Once employed, the Jobs Plus team continues to work with participants to maintain employment and build careers. The Jobs Plus Outreach and Engagement Coordinator serves a critical role by ensuring we are engaging with the residents we are onsite to serve.
Responsibilities
Outreach
Conduct outreach throughout the Lower East Side, including Jacob Riis Houses and Lillian Wald Houses, through tabling, flyering, presentations, and community events, with a minimum of five tabling sessions per month at NYCHA developments and other community locations identified by program leadership to promote Jobs Plus services and recruit new participants.
Community
Conduct a minimum of 40 meaningful resident engagements per tabling event, focused on Jobs Plus enrollment opportunities, with a targeted outcome of obtaining contact information from at least 30 individuals for prospective member follow-up and enrollment conversion. Host at least two community-based workshops or group engagement activity per month focused on Jobs Plus enrollment, workforce development topics, or resident engagement opportunities.
Recruitment
Support recruitment of a minimum of 20 new Jobs Plus member intakes per month through direct outreach, engagement activities, and follow up communication, including cold calling former members, tracking resident interest and referrals, and supporting member orientation, event invitations, and ongoing enrollment-related communications.
Administration
Maintain accurate documentation of outreach activities, engagement totals, leads, and enrollment outcomes using designated program tracking systems. Prepare and submit end-of-day reports and outreach summaries in accordance with program reporting requirements. Provide administrative support including front desk coverage, event coordination, RSVP tracking, and general office support as needed.
Performance
Initiate and maintain consistent follow-up with prospective participants through phone calls, text-based communication when applicable, and event reminders. Maintain professionalism in all community and workplace interaction. Support special projects and program events assigned by leadership. Attend all required meetings, training, supervision sessions, and professional development activities.
Work Structure Breakdown
Approximately 50 percent field-based work conducting outreach, tabling, and community engagement activities. Approximately 50 percent of office-based work conducting follow up calls, cold calling, data entry, reporting, and administrative support.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Must live in the lower East Side (Zip Code 10009). Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage individuals from diverse backgrounds. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Forms).
Work Environment
Comfortable conducting extensive field-based outreach, including walking throughout the Lower East Side, standing for extended periods during tabling events, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including walking, standing, climbing stairs, and lifting, carrying, setting up, moving, and breaking down outreach equipment and materials, including tables, chairs, tents, and other event supplies.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or another language commonly spoken within the Lower East Side community.
