Accessibility Intern

What you’ll get to do here:

Support and staff Accessibility programming, including: Relaxed Performances; Passport to the Arts, for children, teens and adults with disabilities and their families; Lincoln Center Moments, for people with dementia and their caregivers; and verbal description workshops for audiences who are blind or have low vision
Join planning meetings for upcoming events, tracking accessibility logistics, updating lesson plans, and preparing materials for the day of the event
Participate in coaching and training Access Ambassadors, an initiative to provide job training to high school students with disabilities, by modeling Guest Experience skills and providing feedback to students
On-site support for access workers at Lincoln Center Presents performances featuring ASL interpretation, closed/open captioning, audio description, pre-show touch tours, and other accommodations
Support and staff community gatherings designed for various Deaf and disabled communities
Provide public-facing performance support for guests with disabilities at a diverse range of performances and events
Research and advance marketing and outreach efforts to publicize accessible events and to connect with audiences with disabilities
Gather and analyze audience feedback after events
Communicate with audiences over phone and email, responding to general accessibility questions and sharing information about upcoming events
Research and propose improvements and new possibilities in audience engagement, accommodations and creative access integrations

You’ll be a fit if you bring:

An interest in learning about cultural accessibility, performance accommodations, and working with audiences with disabilities
A passion for inclusion and advocacy in the performing arts
Excitement around working directly with audiences and creating a warm, welcoming environment
Strong written, verbal and face-to-face communication skills and an interest in developing comfort communicating with diverse audiences and stakeholders
Collaborative spirit, as well as the ability to work independently
Availability to consistently work Wednesdays, Thursday evenings, and Saturdays
